Prof. Dr. Cevdet ŞEKERProf. Dr. Saim KARAKAPLANProf. Dr. Sait GEZG NThe objective of this study was to determine the effect of poultry manure (PM), woodash (WA), PM+WA (ration of 1:1 dry weight:dry weight) and calcium carbonate (CA)applications on the some properties of an acid soil and fresh-dry materials yields of corn plant(Zea mays L.) under laboratory and greenhouse condition. Laboratory incubation experimentwas conducted to determine the application doses of WA, PM+WA and CA in greenhouse potexperiment. The treatments in greenhouse experiment consisted of control, the doses of 20, 40and 80 Mg ha-1 of PM; the doses of 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 Mg ha-1 of WA; the doses of 5, 10 and20 Mg ha-1 of PM+WA mixture and the doses of 2, 4 and 6 Mg ha-1 of CA. Although, the soilpH values were increased by the all treatments compare with the control, the best effect on pHvalues was made by the applications of 2.5 and 5.0 Mg ha-1 of WA, 10 Mg ha-1 of PM+WAand 2 Mg ha-1 of CA. This treatments improved to 6.5-7 between of the soil pH value. Theadditions of PM produced higher plant height, steam diameter, fresh aerial biomass, dry aerialand root biomass, chlorophyll b content, and soil aggregate stability and field capacity watercontent compare with the other treatments. Otherwise, soil salinity as EC value was increasedby 241% with the application 80 Mg ha-1 of PM. Because of low liming effect, high saltcontent and high using ratio of the simple PM applications, it was suggested that PM+WAmixture for the amelioration of the acid soils.
