124 SUMMARY Evaluation of Microleakage in Esthetic Restorations with Class II Cavities Preparated by Different Techniques The aim of this study was to evaluate the microleakage performance of different restorative materials applied to Class II cavities prepared by different metods. 72 freshly extracted permanent human molar teeth without caries were used in this study. After extraction the periodontal ligament and debris were removed by using a cretuar and the teeth were cleaned by pumice and brush. The teeth were stored in distiled water. Then the teeth were divided into 3 groups each containing 24 teeth. In Group one (Excite Bond, Tetric Flow, Tetric Ceram, Sonicsys Insert) Class II cavities were prepared by using Sonicsys Approx System. 12 samples were polimerized by turbo tip and 1 2 samples were polimerized by conventional light tip. In Group two (Gluma Comfort Bond. Flow Line. Charisma) prepared cavities were restored by a flowable composite resin as a liner and hybrid composite resin. In Group three (Gluma Comfort Bond. Flow Line. Solitaire 2) prepared cavities were restored by a flowable composite resin as a liner and condansable composite resin. These groups were polimerized as in Group one. After storing the samples in distilled water at 37°C in etüve for seven days lOOOx termocycling was applied between 5 ± 2°C for 30 sc. and 55 ± 2°C for 30 sc. having 10 sc. dwell time. The apices of the teeth were covered with resin composite and each of the specimens were sealed with two layers of nail varnish leaving 1 mm of space around the restorations. All samples were immersed in a 0.5 % basic faction solution for 24 hours and then were embedded into cold cure acrylic blocks vertically except the crown parts of the teeth. The samples were cut in mesio-distal direction by using "'microcuf7 which has a diamond cutting tip. Each restoration was examined under binoculer steromicroscope at x20 magnification and scored. Mann-Whithney U test was used to compare the microleakage values between two groups and Kruskal Wallis non parametric variance analysis was used125 to compare the microleakage values among three groups. Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed Rank test was used to compare the microleakage values of occlusal and gingival cavity margins in each of the three groups. No statistically different microleakage was found between groups polymerized by conventional method and turbo tip. Best results were found using standard cavity preparation+Sonicsys Approx burs and applying Sonicsys Approx prefabricated inley. The results of this study revealed there is not a difference in microleakage between condansable composite resin and hybrid composite resin (Group 2 and 3). Key Wards: Packable composite resin. Flowable composite resin. Sonicsys Approx system. Microleakage.
