Özet
ÖZET Çukurova Üniversitesi Birinci Sınıf Fen Grubu Öğrencilerinin“Biyoteknoloji ve Genetik Mühendisliği”Konusundaki Bilgilerinin Değerlendirilmesi Bu araştırmada; üniversite birinci sınıf fen grubu öğrencilerinin biyoteknoloji ile ilgili konularda sahip oldukları bilgi düzeyleri, görüşleri ve biyoteknoloji ile ilgili bilgi edinme yollarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, Çukurova Üniversitesi 2004-2005 öğretim yılında öğrenim gören Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi, Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Fizik Bölümü, Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü, Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Kimya Bölümü ile Ziraat Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 293 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak; kişisel soru anketi ve bilgi testi birlikte uygulanmıştır. Anket, örneklemin özelliğini, öğrencilerin biyoteknoloji ile ilgili bilgi edinme yollan ve biyoteknoloji konusundaki görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmaya yöneliktir. Bilgi testi ise; öğrencilerin, biyoteknoloji konularını öğrenmelerine temel teşkil edecek nükleik asitlerin yapısı, protein sentezi, biyolojik mücadele, ıslah çalışması ve genetik şifre ile biyoteknoloji konularını kapsamaktadır. Araştırma sonunda; lise öğrenimini bitiren öğrencilerin yeterli düzeyde biyoteknoloji bilgisine sahip olmadığı ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bir diğer sonuç ise; öğrencilerin biyoteknoloji ile ilgili konularda, bilgi edinmesinde yazılı ve görsel medya ön plana çıkmaktadır. Bu sonuç, okullardaki biyoteknoloji eğitiminin yeterli düzeyde yapılmadığım göstermektedir.

11 ABSTRACT Çukurova University First Year Science Field Students Knowledge Level About“Biotechnology and Genetical Engineering”The aim of this research is to find out first year university science field students knowledge level about biotechnology, their view about it and how they get knowledge about biotechnology. This research is held in ÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITY in 2004 - 2005 education year with 293 students who study in the faculty of dentistry, in the faculty of arts and sciences physics, in the faculty of arts and sciences biology, in the faculty of arts and sciences chemistry and in the faculty of agriculture. As collecting data's, personality questionnaire survey and information tests have been used together. The aim of the survey, the sample's special features, is to find out how students get information about biotechnology and their opinions about biotechnology. The information test covers the main subjects of biotechnology which are the basis of this subject like the components of nucleic acids, protein synthesis, biological struggle, reform work, genetical code and biotechnological subjects. As a result, it can be seen that students who finish high school don't have enough information about biotechnology. Another result points out that the written and visual media is important for student knowledge about biotechnology. This result shows that the biotechnological education isn't enough in schools.
