Özet
oz Birinci bölümde konuyla ilgili genel bilgi verildikten sonra çalışmanın amacından, Libya'daki üçüncü sınıf fen bilimleri öğrencilerinin ihtiyacı ve istekleri göz önüne alınarak fen bilimleri yoluyla ingilizce öğretmek için özel amaçlı bir İngilizce programı hazırlanmasından söz edilir. Bu bölümde ayrıca çalışmanın alam ve sınırları da verilir. İkinci bölümde özel amaçlı ingilizce öğretiminde program geliştirme ile ilgili yaklaşımlar, fen bilimleri ve teknoloji için ingilizce (EST) ile ilgili öğretmen yetiştirme programlan ve Libya'daki ingilizce öğretiminin mevcut durumu gözden geçirilir. Üçüncü bölümde öğrenci ve öğretmen anketinin hazırlanması ve uygulanmasıyla gerçekleştirilen veri toplama yöntemi ele alınır. Bu bölümde ayrıca toplanan verilerin analizi ve sonuçların yorumlanması da yer alır. Dördüncü bölümde daha önceki bölümde belirlenen öğrencilerin ihtiyaçları göz önüne alınarak hazırlanan program modeli sunulur. Özel amaçlı İngilizce programı için kullanılan genel model ve ünitelerin düzeni de bu bölümde yer alır. Bu bölümde ayrıca model, ünite ve dersler de örneklenir. Beşinci bölümde çalışmanın kısa bir özeti ve varılan genel sonuçlar sunulur. Bu çalışmada beş ek yer alır. 1. İngilizce Öğrenci Anketi, 2. Arapça İngilizce Anketi, 3. Öğretmen Anketi, 4. ABSTRACT In Chapter I, after giving the background to the study, the aim of the study is stated as designing an ESP course for teaching English through science to the third-year science students at Lycees in Libya depending on the students' needs, wants and contributions. Also in this chapter, the scope and limitations to the study are expressed. Chapter II reviews relevant literature on ESP approaches to syllabus design, EST teacher training courses and the current status of English language teaching in Libya. Chapter in specifies the method of data collection through preparing and applying a questionnaire for the students and a structured interview for the instructors. It includes the analysis of data collected and the interpretation of the results. In Chapter IV, the suggested approach for the course design is selected and presented according to the students' needs which have been specified in the previous chapter. It includes the overall design adapted for the ESP course, as well as the format of the units. Also in the same chapter, sample units and lessons are exemplified. In Chapter V, a brief summary of the study and general conclusions arrived at are expressed. The thesis includes five appendices : A-The students' questionnaire in English, B-The students' questionnaire in Arabic, C- The teachers' structured interview, D-The analysis of the items in the students' questionnaire, and E-The analysis of the items in the teachers' structured interview.
