ABSTRACT In this thesis it is aimed to explain Carnap's and Quine's notions of conceptual scheme (framework) and ontology. It is argued that the difference "between Carnap's notion of framework and Quine's notion of conceptual scheme comes from their difference in the attitudes toward linguistic usues (mainly toward meahiaigs, references).
