EFFICIENT AND COST IN GETTING HEAT FROM ELECTRICITY SUMMARY Key words - Electrical energy, heat energy, micro wave, environment, productivity, and cost. In this study, electrical energy which is used in order to obtain heat energy, whether it could be used efficiently and how cost would be able to be reduced, has been investigated. Firstly heat energy obtained by micro wave which has a large application area, is mentioned. Microwave heating, cooking and drying involves many-complex physical processes Although it is widely used in industry and in our houses as microwave ovens, the relationship between the applicator and the load could not be understood with all its aspects, yet. So as to give wright decision on this concept electric and magnetic field components which occurs on the load must be calculated, the power density and heat distribution must be visualised. The cost of a microwave ovens, especially that are designed for industrial processes, are very expensive. It is not possible to process different kinds of loads in the same applicator because of the loads' different properties. Specific designs must be made for different loads. Secondly electrical energy which is used to heat buildings has been compared with other energy sources which are used to heat. The negative effect of alternative sources has been determined. The usage of the electrical energy which is used to heat building efficiently and the reduction of the electrical cost has been investigated. In the last part, the usage of the electrical energy which is used to melt metal in industry efficiently, has been explained. A detailed research of induction and arc furnaces have been done. XIII
