Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmada, kendi içinde tutarlı bir bütünlük oluşturan pozitivist sosyolojinin yöntem anlayışı ve toplum teorisi, farklı bir 'paradigma'yı temsil ettiğim ileri sürdüğümüz 'eleştirel sosyoloji' perspektifinden değerlendirilmekte ve eleştiriye tâbi tutulmaktadır. Buradaki temel amacımız, pozitivist sosyolojinin dayandığı ontolojik, epistemolojik ve metodolojik önvarsayımlann (assumptions) statükoyu meşrulaştıran politik bir çıkan içinde barındırdığım ortaya koymaktır. Bu eleştirel analiz çerçevesinde, çalışmamızın diğer bölümlerinde, pozitivizmin Türkiye'ye girişi ve toplumsal arkaplâm üzerinde durulmakta; ardından bu geleneğin Cumhuriyet döneminde yayınlanmış ve dolaşıma girmiş sosyoloji ders/el kitaplarındaki etkisi gösterilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Yaptığımız irdelemede, Türkiye'de belirli bir sosyoloji tasavvurunun oluşmasına katkıda bulunmuş olan bu sosyoloji ders/el kitaplarında pozitivizmin hakim bir tema olarak belirgin bir biçimde öne çıktığı ve olumlandığı görülmektedir. Sözü edilen kitaplarda, bu perspektif doğrultusunda, okuyucunun insan ve sosyal dünya hakkındaki algılamasını çerçevelendirecek imajlar üretilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, bizatihi sosyoloji üzerine eleştirel bir yeniden düşünme amaçlanmakta ve sosyolojinin kendi kendisiyle her an hesaplaşabilme kapasitesine sahip olması gerektiği vurgulanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu tez çalışmasının eleştirel bir 'sosyoloji sosyolojisi' denemesi olduğu ileri sürülebilir.

ABSTRACT In this study the methodological approach and social theory of the positivist sociology which has its own inter-consistency has been evaluated and criticized by a 'critical sociological' perspective that represents a different paradigm. Our main aim here is to illuminate the ontological, epistemological and methodological basis and assumptions of positivist sociology. By doing mis we want to show mat they are not only legitimizes the existing status quo but they have also political aims too. Within the framework of this critical analysis we discuss, in various sections of the study, the penetration and social background of the positivist sociology in Turkey; later we examine the diffusion of this tradition and its impacts on the sociology textbooks that had been produced in the republican era. Our study shows that those text/handbooks contributed to the emerge of a certain type of imagination of sociology that is the positivist tradition which later became the dominant theme in sociology. We see in these books under consideration, and parallel to this perspective, the production of an imagery that would frame the readers understanding about the human and social world. In this study, we are aiming to reexamine the sociology itself and we point out mat sociology should be able to self-critical and cope with this criticism. Therefore it can be said that this thesis is an attempt of a critical sociology of sociology.
