ABSTR AC T In this study, we try to analyze the effects of the inflationist process on income distribution in the period of 1980-89 and their consequences in the micro and macro economic levels in a wholistic approach. In the post-1980 years, Turkey discontinued the introvert strategy of“industrialization with import substitution”which posed as a model for capital accumulation until then. Instead she adopted a capital accumulation model and imposed a short-term“stabilization programme”in the classical sense which is based on a totally different system of priorities and tried to decrease inflation, besides some long-term objectives like“structural transformation”and“industrialization based on exportation”aiming at integrating with the world markets and making the economy more extrovert. The economic policies which marked the 1980-89 decade were determined in accordance with the priorities of this new model. However, since these policies were applied disregarding the balance between vthe macroeconomi c objectives, they could not succeed to decrease high inflation rates and were not able to prevent inflation getting accelerated, although these had initiated positive developments in many areas. As a result, the inflationist process which spanned over a large time including the last decade started to generate negative effects in micro and macr oeceonomi c terms and began to jeopardize the positive developments created
