Özet
ÖZET Adalet, tarih boyunca bütün insanların özlemi olmuş bir erdemdir. Eski Yunan düşüncesi'nden itibaren felsefeciler ve siyaset felsefecileri insanların bu özleminin nasıl bir adalet anlayışıyla giderilebileceği konusunda teoriler üretmişlerdir. Liberal gelenek içerisinde gösterilen John Rawls, 20. yüzyılın ikinci yansında ortaya koymuş olduğu adalet kuramıyla iki hususu gerçekleştirmeye çalışmıştır. Bunlardan birincisi, pozitif metodolojinin etkisiyle sosyal bilimler içerisinde dışlanmış olan ve ölümünün ilan edildiği siyaset felsefesini canlandırmıştır. İkincisi, Jeremy Bentham'dan beri liberalizmde egemen ahlaki felsefe olan faydacılığa alternatif teşkil edebilecek bir etik teori ortaya koymuştur. Oluşturduğu adalet kuramıyla, Rawls, toplumun temel kurumlarının, vatandaşların özgürlüğüne ve eşitliğine uygun bir biçimde nasıl düzenlenebileceğinin yollarını göstermeye çalışmıştır. Rawls'un adalet kuramının özünü oluşturan iki adalet ilkesi çerçevesinde, siyaset felsefesinde her zaman bir tartışma konusu olmuş ve uyumlaştırılmaları çok zor olan özgürlük ve eşitliğin nasıl bağdaştırılabileceğine ilişkin bir formül sunulmaya çalışılmaktadır. Çalışma, Rawls'un siyaset teorisi ve felsefesi bağlamında bu uyumun ne derece başarılabildiğini irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. rv

SUMMARY Justice has been a virtue which all people have longed for throughout history. Starting from Ancient Greek Thought philosophers and political philosophers have produced theories as to how to meet best the aspiration of people. Regarded within the liberal tradition John Rawls has put forward a theory of justice in the second part of the twentieth century. In it, Rawls has tried to realize two points. The first one is to revive political philosophy whose death was declared under the influence of positivist methodology. The second one is to propose an alternative ethical theory to utilitarianism which has been dominant ethical theory within liberalism since Jeremy Bentham. With his theory, John Rawls has endeavoured to show basic institutions of society could be organized in accordance with citizens' liberty and equality. Within the framework of the two principles of justice, which are regarded as the essence of John Rawls Theory of Justice, a formula has been provided to lessen the tension between liberty and equality. The present work tries to examine the extent to which this harmony has been achieved in view of Rawls's political theory and philosophy.
