Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmada Hacettepe Üniversitesi İngiliz Dili Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı ve diğer İngiliz Dili Eğitimi bölümlerinde bulunan İDÖ 453 kodlu 'Drama Öğretimi ve İncelemesi' dersinin işlenmesinde yardımcı olacak ve bölümdeki öğrencilerin ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak mevcut kitap ya da materyal bulunmadığından, bu ders için özel olarak öğrencilerin ihtiyaçlarına yönelik materyal geliştirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, birinci bölümde çalışmaya başlangıç olan noktalarla birlikte çalışmanın amacından söz edilecektir. Ayrıca, bu bölümde dramanın önemine, bu çalışmanın çerçevesine ve çalışmayla ilgili terimlerin anlamlarına yer verilecektir. İkinci bölüm, dramanın öğeleri, drama analiz kılavuzu, drama(oyun) seçim kriterleri ve drama inceleme araçlarını ele alacaktır. Üçüncü bölümde ise örnek modern drama eserleri, bu dersin işlenilmesi amacıyla geliştirilmiş ders planları çerçevesinde ve de çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde bulunan drama inceleme araçları ışığında incelenecektir. Dördüncü bölümde ise çalışma kısaca özetlenecektir. Ayrıca drama incelemesinin İngiliz Dili Eğitimine katkılarıyla birlikte bazı önerilere yer verilecektir.

Ill ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to design materials for the course titled, 'İDÖ 453 Drama Teaching and Analysis' in the English Language Teaching Department (ELT) at Hacettepe University and in other ELT departments since at present there is not an existing coursebook or materials that has been particularly and satisfactorily tailored to cater for the needs of the undergraduates in the ELT departments. Therefore, in this study a number of materials for the course titled 'İDÖ 453 Drama Teaching and Analysis' will be designed so as to meet the needs of the undergraduates in many aspects. The first chapter presents the background to the study, problems of the study, the aim and scope of the study and the definition of relevant terms. The second chapter focuses on the nature of drama, the essence of drama, elements of drama, guidelines for drama analysis and play selection criteria. The third chapter presents analysis of examples of modern drama through sample lesson plans. The fourth chapter gives a summary of the study together with the contributions of Drama to ELT and suggestions with respect to the use of Drama in ELT.
