Özet
SUMMARY In this study changes in enzymatic activity of purin and pirimidine metabolism in livers of colorectal cancer metastasis were searched and clinical correlation were investigated. Between July 2000 and may 2001 9 cases; 6 female, 3 male, age range 30-60, of colorectal cancer either operated or not and radiologically determined resectable liver metastasis were included in the study. ADA and 5 NT enzyme activities were analyzed both in metastatic and normal portions of the liver and serum samples and also these enzyme activities were analyzed in healthy cases serums. Normal liver tissue ADA and 5 NT activities were more pronounced compared to metastatic liver tissue. These differences were not found to be statistically significant. Serum ADA and 5 NT enzyme activities were more pronounced in healthy individuals compared to metastatic cases and this reached statistical significance (p<0.05). The difference of serum and tissue enzyme activities of ADA and 5 NT in tumorous and nontumorous cases may be due to usage of a different metabolic pathway in metastatic cases. As a result of low levels of ADA enzyme activity in tumorous tissue, ADA enzyme may be regarded as a catabolic one, and rearrangement of ADA activity in tumorous tissue may prevent the degradation pathway of adenosine.
