This study was conducted between 2021 and 2025 in the Artvin Central, Yusufeli, Şavşat, and Ardanuç districts. As a result of the floristic analyses carried out within a 16 m2 sampling area determined by the minimal area method, a total of 88 taxa were identified, with the Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, and Fabaceae families being dominant. The morphological, leaf anatomical, palynological, ecological, and biological characteristics of the local endemic species Psephellus yusufeliensis Tugay & Uysal and Psephellus pecho (M.Bieb.) Wagenitz, which constitute the focal point of this thesis, were investigated in detail. Anatomical examinations determined that P. yusufeliensis possesses an equifacial leaf structure, whereas P. pecho exhibits a bifacial/isobilateral structure. Palynological analyses revealed that the pollen grains of both species are tricolporate and isopolar; however, P. yusufeliensis displays an oblate-spheroid shape, while P. pecho is prolate-spheroid. Soil analyses performed within the scope of ecological investigations demonstrated that P. pecho prefers sandy and well-drained soils, whereas P. yusufeliensis shows tolerance to clayey soils with high magnesium content. Climatic analyses indicated that the majority of the study area is of a semi-arid character. According to reproductive biology data, calculated P/O ratios showed that both species are“Obligate Xenogamous,”and the application of 1000 ppm GA3 yielded the highest success rate in germination tests. The potential distribution areas of these species, which are evaluated in the“EN”(Endangered) category according to IUCN criteria, were modeled using MaxEnt software. In the models, which operated with high accuracy (AUC > 0.98), BIO9 (Mean Temperature of Driest Quarter) was identified as the most critical environmental variable limiting the distribution of the species. Projections based on climate change scenarios (2041–2060) indicate that both species face the risk of habitat loss and that urgent conservation strategies are required.
