This thesis examines, in a comparative framework, Konstantin Stanislavski's Method of Physical Actions and Tadashi Suzuki's actor-training methodology. In both approaches, the actor's body occupies a central place in theatrical practice; however, each articulates this centrality through a different logic. Konstantin Stanislavski's system investigates physical action within the role's context through given circumstances, objectives, and the through-line of action. In this system, exercises function as tools introduced in response to specific challenges encountered during the rehearsal process. Tadashi Suzuki's method, by contrast, develops the actor's physical capacities as an autonomous field of work: training focuses on contact with the ground, the regulation of energy and breath, and mastery of the center of gravity, without reference to any particular role or text. On the basis of this distinction, the thesis advances the following main argument: Suzuki conditions the actor's body, whereas Stanislavski organizes that body in accordance with the role. The study also maps the shared concerns and divergences of both approaches in relation to commercial theatre, across ethical, economic, and practical dimensions. It offers a detailed examination of the exercise practices of each system: on the Stanislavski side, relaxation and tension control, concentration, and the investigation of physical action; on the Suzuki side, stamping, basic forms, walks, and statue work. By assessing the points at which the two approaches converge, conflict, and complement one another, the thesis discusses the feasibility of a sequential application model in actor training.
