Özet
İçinde bulunduğumuz çağda doğa, sanayileşme, hızlı kentleşme ve aşırı tüketim alışkanlıkları gibi antropojenik etkenlerin tetiklediği çok boyutlu bir ekolojik krizle karşı karşıyadır. Bu çevresel ve etik kriz, sanatsal üretimin de merkezine yerleşerek doğanın salt bir peyzaj unsuru ya da estetik nesne olarak temsil edilmesinin ötesine geçilmesini zorunlu kılmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasında; ekolojik çöküşün yarattığı aciliyet bağlamında, sanatın nesne odaklı yapısından sıyrılarak eyleme, bedene ve sürece yoğunlaştığı performans sanatı ile çevresel aktivist hareketlerin performatif kesişim noktaları incelenmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında, 1960'lardan günümüze performans sanatının tarihsel dönüşümü ele alınmakta; Joseph Beuys'un“genişletilmiş sanat”kavramından günümüzün eko-nihilizm karşıtı spekülatif pratiklerine kadar, sanatçıların ekosistemin sesini duyurma ve görünmez kılınan tahribatı görünür kılma stratejileri tartışılmaktadır. Ayrıca, Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace, Chipko Hareketi ve Pasifik İklim Savaşçıları gibi aktivist oluşumların kamusal alanda bedeni, ritüeli, zamanı ve mekânı stratejik birer araç olarak kullanarak gerçekleştirdikleri eylemlerin performatif ve estetik boyutları Jacques Rancière'in“duyumsanabilir olanın paylaşımı”kuramı ekseninde analiz edilmektedir. Doğanın pasif bir dekor değil, eylemin gidişatını rüzgârı, toprağı ve döngüsel ritmiyle şekillendiren aktif bir“ortak fail”olduğu vurgulanan bu çalışmada; beden, mekân ve doğa arasındaki geçirgen sınırlar fenomenolojik ve ekolojik perspektiften çözümlenmektedir. Sonuç olarak tez; performans sanatının ve yaratıcı aktivizmin, veriye dayalı bilgiyi duyusal ve deneyimsel bir yüzleşmeye dönüştürerek toplumda yeni bir etik duyarlılık ve gezegen eksenli sorumluluk bilinci inşa etme potansiyelini ortaya koymaktadır.

In the contemporary era, nature is confronted with a multidimensional ecological crisis triggered by anthropogenic factors such as industrialization, rapid urbanization, and excessive consumption habits. This environmental and ethical crisis has also become central to artistic production, making it necessary to move beyond the representation of nature merely as a landscape element or an aesthetic object. This thesis examines the points of intersection between performance art which, in the context of the urgency created by ecological collapse, has shifted its focus from an object-oriented structure toward action, the body, and process and environmental activist movements in their performative dimensions. Within the scope of the study, the historical transformation of performance art from the 1960s to the present is explored; from Joseph Beuys's concept of“expanded art”to contemporary speculative practices opposing eco-nihilism, the strategies employed by artists to give voice to ecosystems and render visible forms of destruction that have been made invisible are discussed. Furthermore, the performative and aesthetic dimensions of the actions carried out by activist movements such as Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace, the Chipko Movement, and the Pacific Climate Warriors are analyzed through the lens of Jacques Rancière's theory of the“distribution of the sensible,”focusing on how these movements strategically employ the body, ritual, time, and space in the public sphere. Emphasizing that nature is not a passive backdrop but an active“co-agent”that shapes the course of action through its wind, soil, and cyclical rhythms, this study examines the permeable boundaries between body, space, and nature from phenomenological and ecological perspectives. Ultimately, the thesis demonstrates the potential of performance art and creative activism to transform data-driven knowledge into a sensory and experiential confrontation, thereby fostering a new ethical sensibility and a sense of planet-centered responsibility within society.
