179 SUMMARY (Resumen en ingles) Jose Marti, being a national hero, a revolutionist, a writer and a poet in his country is also an important personality both in Latin American history and the world history. He contributed a lot to the Spanish language and to the development of the world literature. Although this renovator nature of his character has sometimes given way to an interpretation as a transition to modernism in some rather superficial studies maybe with a careless consideration, all of the other more serious authors regard him a typically romantic poet, who has a sui generis character in form and in essence of his poetry. Romanticism holds lyrism, sentimentality, novelty, imagination and idealism within itself. The impressive changes taken place during the nineteenth century in Europe in science, in art and in social structure have been spreading in waves around the whole world, influencing deeply the humanity in this way. These effects of the romanticism are still in force even today, and meet with us every now and then in scientific studies or in artistic creations, while modernism, even though might have opened a road to the creation of some beautiful works sporadically, we could say that eventually it showed rather an ephemeral and limited existence possibly because of its intrinsic reactive style. In this humble work of mine I followed the aim of not only accentuating the romantic reality of the great Master, but also increasing180 the common knowledge in my Country about Latin America and vice versa through the generous personal image of Jose Marti. It would be great happiness for me to be able to construct a small and modest but meaningful new bridge of mutual understanding between the two places far away from one another, and so to contribute to the universal peace and friendship.
