Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmada günümüzde yaygın bir şekilde yapılan modernizm- postmodernizm tartışmasının etik alanındaki yansımaları Zygmunt Bauman'ın eserlerinde hareketle ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma temel olarak üç bölümde oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde Bauman'ın etiğin neliği ve bununla bağlantılı olarak etiğin temelleri, etik ve evrensellik, akıl ve duyguların insan eylemlerindeki rolü konusundaki görüşleri anlatılmaktadır. İkinci bölümde Bauman'ın toplumun, toplumsal mekan düzenlemelerin, teknoloji ve bürokrasinin ahlâk üzerindeki etkileri konusundaki görüşleri ele alınmaktadır. Daha sonra Bauman'ın insanın ahlâki olarak muğlak olduğu, bu muğlaklığın toplumun doğusuyla birlikte arttığı ve etiğin bu muğlaklığı giderecek herhangi bir dayanak bulamadığından krizde olduğuna yönelik görüşleri özetlenmektedir Üçüncü bölümde Bauman'ın önceki bölümlerde özetlenen görüşleri değerlendirilmektedir. Bu bölümde bir bilgi disiplini olarak etiğin neliği ve bununla bağlantılı olarak“etiğin temelleri”, etik ve evrensellik, akıl ve duyguların insan eylemlerindeki rolü ele alınmakta ve Bauman' in bu konulardaki görüşlerinin sıkıntıları gösterilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Çalışma, Bauman'ın iddialarının aksine, etiğin öneminin özellikle çağımızın etik sorunları karşısında daha da arttığı sonucuna varmaktadır.

m SUMMARY The purpose of this study is to inquire into the impact of the widespread modernist-postmodernist debate on ethics. To do this, it focuses Zygmunt Bauman's works on postmodern ethics. The study consists of three main parts. The first part of the study consists of exposition of Zygmunt Bauman's views of ethics -his definition of ethics, the foundation of ethics and his discussion of the role that reason and emotions play in human action. The second part deals with Bauman's views concerning the organisation of society and the social space, the impact of technology and bureaucracy on morals and the moral ambivalence of man along with his arguments that this ambivalence has increased with the emergence of society and that etihcs is undergoing a crisis, since it was not able to formulate ways which would help to eliminate this ambivalence. The third section is a critique of Bauman's viwes which were summarised in the previous section. In this section, contradictions of Bauman's viwes on what ethics as an epistemic discipline is are put forward, and in this connection his viwes on the problem of“the foundation of ethics”, universality of ethics, the role of reason and emotions in human action are questioned. The study reaches the conclusion that contrary to Bauman's claim the importance of ethics is increasing more and more in our day, especially in the face of the ethical question of our age.
