ÖZET AYRIK SEÇENEKLİ ÇOK AMAÇLI KARAR PROBLEMLERİ SAGALA, Raul N. S. Doktora Tezi, Endüstri Mühendisliği Bölümü Danışman : Doç. Dr. Murat M. Köksalan Temmuz 1990, 198sayfe Çok amaçlı karar problemlerinde seçenekler birden fazla kriter göz önünde tutularak değerlendirilir. Günlük yaşantıda bu tip durumlarla sık sık karşılaşılır. Bu çalışmada amacımız söz konusu seçim sürecini kolaylaştıracak yöntemler geliştirmektir. Yukardaki seçim problemi için geliştirilmiş etkileşimli yöntemlerden yola çıkarak bunları daha da geliştirip daha genel bir yöntem öneriyoruz. Geliştirilen etkin hesap yöntemleri sayesinde büyük problemler için bile kişisel bilgisayar kullanarak kısa sürede çözüm elde etmek mümkün olmaktadır. Yöntemimiz, karar vericinin kendisine sunulan seçenekleri birbiri ile kıyaslamasını gerektirmektedir. Burada dikkat ettiğimiz husus, az sayıda kıyaslama ile sonucu elde etmeye çalışmaktır. Karar vericinin kıyaslama sonuçlan deneyimlerimizde değişik fayda fonksiyonları kullanılarak simüle edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, varsa daha önce geliştirilen yöntemlerin sonuçlan ile kıyaslanmaktadır.

ABSTRACT ISSUES IN MULTIPLE CRITERIA DECISION MAKING WITH DISCRETE ALTERNATIVES SAGALA, Paul N. S. Ph.D. In Industrial Engineering Supervisor : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat M. Köksalan July 1990, 198 pages Multiple criteria decision making may be viewed as a situation where an individual is faced with a number of options from which a choice needs to be made where each option has to be judged on the basis of a number of criteria. This is indeed an every day occurrence which people face in all fields of life. Our aim is to identify procedures which may further ease the choice process. We take the work on interactive pairwise comparisons of discrete alternatives as a reference and develop extensions to some of its features, propose some variations to improve computational efficiency as well as come up with more general approaches leading to a new general algorithm. Computationally efficient innovations have made it possible for us to execute algorithms on PC's with a modest ram requirement and speed for large size problems with modest execution times. Our approach requires the decision maker (DM) to compare pairs of alternatives. Our main consideration is minimization of the total number of pairwise comparisons to the end of the solution process for a problem. The decision maker has been simulated throughout by applying an assumed underlying utility function which is evaluated for any two alternatives for which a preference would have been sought in reality. We report only total number of interactions asked of the decision maker and where applicable, compare our results with existing results for earlier work.
