SUMMARY As a resule of ur surveys, it was established that, since 1517, under the Ottoman rule, in Urfa, 32 inns were built until the beginning of the 20th century. 1 1 of these inns could reach to our time. Besides the names and the places of 12 inns, the plans and the construction dates of some others were also established. The inns built between the 16th and the beginning of the 19th century were mostly found in the commercial region of city, whereas the inns built beginning with the 19th century were outside the fortification walls on the northern part of the city. This indicates that beginning with this century the commercial activity was developed through this direction. The inns of which we could design their plans were all built with one courtyard. There were four types considering their storeys ; one-storeyed, partly two- storeyed, two-storeyed and partly three-storeyed. The one-storeyed, partly two-storeyed and partly three-storeyed types were rarely found among the inns of the Ottoman period. As the supportive systems, rubble stones covered with well-cut stones and as the building materials the rubble stones were used for coverage. The using of woods were seen rarely. Decorative elements are also seen rarely in Urfa Inns. These decorations are four types as ; geometrical, floral, inscriptive and figurative. They are seen over the entrance doors portal and at the facades of them. Urfa inns reflect the Ottaman inns' plans with their general designs whereas the architectural properties of the Southeast Anatolia and Syrian region with their technical materials, architectural elements and other details.
