oz INTERNET PROTOKOLÜ ÜZERİNDE SES TAŞIMA Öztoprak, Kasım Yüksek Lisans, Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Öğretim Görevlisi Dr. Attila Özgit Mayıs 2000, 82 Sayfa internetin hızla gelişmesi, uzak mesafe telefon görüşmelerinin oldukça pahalı olması, ses ve veri hatlarını tek bir şebekede toplama isteği, bizleri Internet, Intranet ve Extranet'ler gibi geleneksel veri iletişim hatları üzerinden Internet Protokolü kullanılarak ses taşıma çalışmaları yapmaya zorlamaktadır. Çalışmalar analog telefon bilgilerini Internet Protokolü, Frame Relay ve ATM ağlan gibi paket anahtarlamalı sistemler üzerinden taşımaya odaklanmışlardır. Bu tez ses paketlerinin Internet üzerinde taşıması amacı ile oluşturulmasından gönderilmeye hazır hale getirilmesi ve gideceği adrese ulaştırılması aşamalarında karşılaşılan gecikmelere odaklanmıştır. Bu amaçla bir test düzeneği geüştirilmiş olup, bu düzenek üzerinde çalışan değişik sıkıştırma algoritmaları sisteme entegre edilmiş ve sistemin çalışması esnasmda gerçek zamanlı gecikme değerleri ölçülmüştür. Sonuçlar göstermektedir ki, ölçülen gecikme değerleri kullanılansıkıştırma algoritmalarının çoğu için tolere edilebilecek sınırın içindedir ve ses kalitesi kullanılabilecek düzeydedir.

Dr. Attila Özgit May 2000, 82 Pages The growing excitement of the Internet, the high cost payments in Telephone Calls for long distance and the willingness to combine voice and data services onto a single network forces us to work on Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) to use it as an infrastructure for the transport of telephony services over traditional data networks such as the Internet, corporate-enterprise intranets and new service provider extranets. The works are considered on the development of systems that converts analog telephony information such as voice into packet data suitable for transport over IP, Frame Relay and ATM networks. This thesis is concerned with the delay experienced by voice packets during the encoding, processing and transmission stages when transmitted over the Internet. For this purpose a testbed was developed, different coding schemes are employed and actual delays are measured. The results show that the delays measured are within mtolerable limits for most of the codecs used and the quality is acceptable for human uses.
