UM MARY Dilek Peninsula is situated in the Main Aegean Part of the Aegean Region, eninsula is one of the western extensions of the Menderes massif. It possesses aleozoic and Mesozoic aged cist, quartz, marble, crystallised limestone and quarts at are lithologically belong to Menederes massif cover group. Tertiary era is represented by the Miocene aged old conglomerate, sandstone id marn. Meanwhile, Quaternary is made up of old alluvions of Pleistocene and 3w alluvions of Holocene era. One of the peninsula there are correded surfaces representing the three different era. These are ; 1 -Middle Miocene corrreded surface laying around 1000-1200 m. which can be differentiated by the distinct karstification. 2-Upper Miocene correded surface laying around 450-900 m. which has ediment characteristics. 3-Pliocene correded surface laying around 200-500 m. Valleys are usually young and in V shape. They form correded terraces at four Terent level; 1-At 100 m. high correded terrace 2-At 50-70 m. high correded terrace 3-At 30-35 m. low correded terrace 4-At 25 m. low correded terrace 252They are so many alluvial fans at the peninsula. In the northern part of the eninsula between Davutlar and Güzelçamlı there is a welldeveloped coastal plain, friile in the northern side of this coastal plain Köyaltı lagoon continue its norphological development. In the Dilek Peninsula there are cliffs formed as a result f sea erosion at the place where alluvial fans in contact with sea. However, loğanbey cliffs are death ones as development of Büyük Menederes Delta in the lolosen period canceled their contact with sea. Depending on the tectonic activities f Dilek Peninsula in the upper Miocene, volcanic cones at different localities. Dilek Peninsula shows typical Mediterranean climatic features. Meanwhile it is worth to mention about asymetry between northern and southern parts of the eninsula, as northern parts are more humid. Based on the mother rock, climate and drainage features, there are different oil formations such as Rendzina, lithosoils, alluvial soils, hydromorphic aluuvial soils. Plant formations growing on the peninsula are; forest, maquis, gariques, dune narsh. Because of its biodiversity rich maquis formation and undisturbed natural satures the Ministry of Forestry declared it as a National Park in 1967. However current land use practices does not fit with the prupose of the national park status. 253
