THE PROBLEM OF RHYTHMIC INSTRUMENTS USED IN TURKISH MUSIC SUMMARY In that study where the subject is“ The problem of rhythmic instruments used in Turkish Music ”, use of rhythmic instruments, various musical instruments which are used and significant problem, which should be focused on concerning the practice are examined. Historical background of rhythmic instruments which are used in Turkish Music, structure of them, use of them in classical music and religious music and the situation at present also reviewed. It can be realised that the different rhythmic instruments have been used in various musical fields when the historical background of Turkish Music is considered. For example in religious music Kudüm and Bendir in Mehter music, Kös, Çevgân, Nakkare in Fasıl music, Def have been used. Def has lost its importance parallel to the use of Darbuka in Turkish Music. It is stressed that the rhythmic instruments especially, Darbuka, which is played in high volume assumed and some rolls not proper for aesthetics and artistic approach, causes an anxiety on termination of naturel tinkle in Turkish Music. As in the case of whole world music, rhythmic instruments have important place also estimable like the others, and part of the whole. Main problem is to determine and define where, which and trow to use the rhythmic instruments. Discussion with expert people in Turkish Music, their opinions on that, topic and written recources have been used as reference and evaluated. As a conclusion, Turkish composer should write a special music score for every sound and instrument even though for a single sounded song. The problem of using of rhythmic instruments can be solved when the composer notifies where and how to use the rhythmic instruments. vu
