Özet (Çeviri)

Depression is one the most common disorder among adolescents. As depression has many adverse outcomes, investigations to determine the factors leading to it are essential to implement prevention and intervention strategies. In the literature, there are multiple studies identifying predictors of depression in adolescence, and the evidence from these is applied to prevention and intervention strategies. In some studies the term“prediction”is preferred over“association”(which is measured by correlation), despite important differences between the terms. Validated multivariable prediction models are increasingly used in translational science by clinical practitioners, as they transform information from the basic science context to a clinical setting. Thus, effective prediction emphasises study findings in translational science. , using this term might be harmful for the patients as they may think that there is a“new hope”for their diseases. Thus, making a“really prediction”is essential. y are given false hope of treatment based on the suggestion that the reasons for their disease has been found Aim The aims of the study are to systematically review the literature to evaluate different types of studies (epidemiological, experimental, biomarker studies) and their reporting to ascertain whether their results hold value in translational settings. This will afford an impression of how well this literature meets the requirements of translational research using the TRIPOD statement to formally code and score the literature; and make recommendations concerning how future research should modify reporting to prove valuable in a translational setting. Method The subsequent databases, including PubMed, Medline and PsycINFO, were screened to identify prediction studies published in the last 5 years. The TRIPOD statement was used to assess the completeness of the studies. Results We evaluated 121 publications, 97% epidemiological studies and 3% experimental studies. In general, the reporting of TRIPOD items and the completeness of the publications was found to be poor. The less reported items were title (0%), abstract (12%), blind assessment of the outcome (8%), blind assessment of predictors (11%), model building procedures (11%), and demographics of the participants (9%). In addition, the most complete paper had a 70% completeness rate, while the least complete was rated 7%. Conclusion More than half of the TRIPOD items were not well reported in the studies. Thus, using these studies in the translational field might not be possible.
