Özet
Bu araştırmada, 1850-1900 yıllan arasında Giresun Kazası 'nın siyasî, ekonomik ve sosyal yönleri ele alınarak incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Öncelikle kazanın İlkçağ' dan itibaren tarihî gelişmeleri kronolojik olarak verilmiştir. Kazanın merkezini oluşturan şehir bir bütün olarak incelenmiş ve şehrin konumu, fizikî durumu, ulaşımı ve şehirde bulunan sosyal ve dinî yapılar ortaya çıkartılmıştır. Kazanın Osmanlı fethiyle birlikte idarî durumu incelenerek, XDC. yüzyılın ikinci yarısındaki yönetimi hakkında etraflıca bilgiler verilmiştir. Yine kazanın nüfusu müslüman ve gayri müslim şeklinde tespit edilmiştir. Kazanın ekonomik göstergeleri maddeler halinde ayrılarak, şehre kazandırdığı maddî değerleri incelenmiştir. Şehrin tesbiti, yönetimi, nüfusu ve ekonomik durumunun yanında, şehirde yaşayan müslüman ve gayri müslimlerin sosyal yaşantıları da örnekler dahilinde kıyaslanarak ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

In this research, we have studied the political, economical and social aspects of the District of Giresun during the period of 1850 - 1900. First of all, the historical developments, which had happened in the district beginning from the Antiquity, have been written down chronologically. The center, forming the main settlement nucleous in the district, has been examined as a whole, and thus we have brought into light the location of the disrict 's center, the physical conditions in the center, the arrival to the center, and the social and religious constitutions in the area. Examining the governing body after the Ottoman conquest of the district, we have given detailed information about the governing body in the district related to the second half of the 19 th century. And also, we have determined the population of the district as Moslem and non-Moslem people. Writting down the economic indicators concerning the commercial life in the district item by item, we have been able to find out the district's incomes. In our research, we have not only brought up the determination of the district's location, the governing body and the population in the area, and the economic life in district, but also we have disclosed the differencies between Moslem and non-Moslem people comparing their social lives with each other according to the related events.
