Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Anadolu Liselerinde matematik ve fen bilgisi derslerinin yabancı dille öğretilmesinde karşılaşılan sorunları ortaya çıkarmak ve çözülmesi için öneriler sunmaktır. Araştırma şu sorulara yamt aramaktadır: 1 -Anadolu liselerinde matematik ve fen bilgisi derslerinin yabancı dille öğretilmesine ilişkin algılan öğrencinin; a) okuluna, b) 1.dönem matematik dersi karne basan notuna, c) 1.dönem fen bilgisi dersi karne basan notuna, d) cinsiyetine, e) yaşına, f) mezun olduğu okul türüne, g) annesinin eğitim durumuna, h) babasının eğitim durumuna göre farklılık göstermekte midir? 2-Anadolu liselerindeki matematik ve fen bilgisi öğretmenlerinin bu derslerin yabancı dille öğretilmesine ilişkin algılan nasıldır? 3-Öğrenci velilerinin, matematik ve fen bilgisi derslerinin yabancı dille öğretilmesine ilişkin algılan nasıldır ve, a) yaş, b) eğitim durumlanna göre farklılık göstermekte midir? Veri toplama aracı olarak, öğretmen, öğrenci ve velilerin konuya ilişkin algılannı belirlemek amacıyla üç likert tipi anket kullanılmıştır. Veriler toplandıktan sonra öğrenci, öğretmen ve veli algılannı ortaya çıkarmak için the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) programı uygulanmıştır. Algılar arasındaki karşılaştırmalar Chi-square Pearson yöntemiyle hesaplanmıştır. VIAraştırmanın örneklemini Anadolu Liseleri 8 sınıfındaki 1245 öğrenci, bu okullardaki 35 matematik ve 29 fen bilgisi olmak üzere 64 öğretmen, 905 öğrenci velisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma sonunda elde edilen bulgular şöyle özetlenebilir: 1 -Anadolu Liseleri öğrencilerinin matematik ve fen bilgisi derslerinin yabancı dille öğretilmesine ilişkin algılan öğrencinin; a) okuluna, b) 1.dönem matematik dersi karne basan notuna, c) 1.dönem fen bilgisi dersi karne basan notuna, d) cinsiyetine, e) yaşına, f) annesinin eğitim durumuna, g) babasının eğitim durumuna göre fark göstermekte olup mezun olduğu okul türüne göre fark göstermemektedir. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğu bu derslerin Türkçe okutulması yönünde görüş bildirmişlerdir. 2-Matematik ve fen bilgisi öğretmenlerinin çoğunluğu bu derslerin Türkçe okutulması görüşünü benimsemektedirler. 3-Öğrenci velilerinin çoğunluğu, öğrenci ve öğretmen görüşlerini paylaşmaktadırlar. Velilerin algılan yaş ve eğitim durumlanna göre farklılık göstermektedir. Araştırmanın sonunda, Anadolu liselerinde matematik ve fen bilgisi programının iyileştirilmesi için bazı öneriler sunulmuştur. vn

he purpose of this study is to bring out the problems about instructing mathematics and science in the foreign language at the Anatolian high schools and proposals for their remedy. The study was designed to analyze the following sub-problems: 1-Do the students' perceptions about instructing mathematics and science in a foreign language at the Anatolian high schools change due to their; a) school, b) achievement score of mathematics in the first term, c) achievement score of science in the first term, d) age, e) type of school they graduated from, f) fathers' educational level, g) mothers' educational level. 2- What are the perceptions of mathematics and science teachers about instructing the related courses in the foreign language at the Anatolian high schools? 3 -What are the perceptions of students' parents about using the foreign language as means of instruction for mathematics and science at the Anatolian high schools and do their perceptions change due to their; a) age, b) educational level. Three sorts of questionnaire were applied to 64 mathematics and science teachers, and to 1245 students, along with 905 their parents. After the data had been complied, the computer program, the Statistical program for the Social Sciences (SPSS), was used to bring out the perceptions of students, VHIteachers and parents. The comparison between perceptions was computed by Chi- Square Pearson method. In this research, statistical analysis can be summed up as follows; 1 -Students' perceptions about instructing of these subjects in a foreign language differ due to their; a) school, b) achievement score of mathematics in the first term, c) achievement score of science in the first term, d) age, e) fathers' educational level, f) mothers' educational level, but do not differ due to the type of school they graduated from. Most of the students commonly agreed that the two courses should be taught in Turkish rather than English. 2-A great number of mathematics and science teachers also think that these subjects should be taught in Turkish. 3-Perceptions of students' parents about instructing these subjects in a foreign language differ due to their; a) age, b) educational level. A great number of parents shares the same ideas as of the students' and the teachers. At the end of this study, some proposals are put out to improve the quality of instruction of mathematics and science courses at the Anatolian high schools. rx
