Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye'de 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılı içerisinde öğrencilere okutulmak üzere T.C. Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından 2018 yılında yayımlanan öğretim programlarına göre basılan Sözcü Yayıncılık ve MEB Yayınlarına ait 4. sınıf Fen Bilimleri ders kitapları ile Ferman Yayıncılık tarafından basılan 4. sınıf sosyal bilgiler ders kitabının konu içerikleri, etkinlikler ve kullanılan görsel materyaller açısından sürdürülebilir çevre eğitimi kapsamında incelenmesidir. Araştırmada ders kitaplarının sürdürülebilir çevre eğitimine yönelik içerdiği kazanımların belirlenmesi amacıyla nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. İlk aşamada 4. sınıf Fen Bilimleri ve sosyal bilgiler ders kitaplarındaki sürdürülebilir çevre eğitimine yönelik kazanımların ünitelere göre dağılımını belirlenip, daha sonra belirlenen ünitelerin konu içerikleri, etkinlik ve görselleri, öğrencilere sağladıkları katkılar açısından analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda 4. sınıf Fen Bilimleri ve Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarının sürdürülebilir çevre eğitimi açısından öğrencilere yeterli katkı sağlamadığı, bütün ünitelere yayılmış zengin bir içeriğin bulunmadığı görülmüştür. Bunun yanında konuların daha çok bilgi içerikli olduğu, kitap içeriklerinin öğrencilerde sürdürülebilirlik kavramına karşı tutum ve davranış geliştirmede yetersiz oldukları sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu kapsamda ders kitaplarının sürdürülebilir çevre eğitimi çerçevesinde geliştirilmesi gereklidir. Söz konusu amaçla disiplinler arası iş birliği ile bütün ders kitaplarında sistematik olarak ilerleyen, öğrenciyi merkeze alan, yaşayarak öğrenmeye ve kalıcı davranış değişikliklerine fırsat tanıyan bir değişimin sağlanması yerinde bir girişim olacaktır.

The aim of this study is to examine the content, activities, and visual materials related to sustainable environmental education in the 4th grade Science textbooks published by Sözcü Publishing and MEB Publishing, and the 4th grade Social Studies textbooks published by Ferman Publishing, according to the 2018 curricula issued by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey for the 2023-2024 academic year. In the study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used to determine the achievements related to sustainable environmental education contained in the textbooks. In the first stage, the distribution of the achievements related to sustainable environmental education in the 4th-grade science and social studies textbooks was determined by units. Subsequently, the subject contents, activities, and visuals of the identified units were analyzed in terms of the contributions they provide to students. As a result of the research, it was found that the 4th-grade science and social studies textbooks do not provide sufficient contributions to students in terms of sustainable environmental education and also there is no rich content spread across all units. Additionally, it has been concluded that the topics are more informational, and the book contents are insufficient in developing students' attitudes and behaviors towards the concept of sustainability. In this context, it is necessary to develop textbooks within the framework of sustainable environmental education. For this purpose, a systematic progression in all textbooks, centered around the student and allowing for experiential learning and lasting behavior change, through interdisciplinary collaboration, would be a timely initiative.
