Mahmut KILIÇ Bu Yüksek Lisans Tezinde işlediğimiz konu, ithal doğal gazın önemidir. Bu önemi ortaya çıkarabilmek için doğal gazın tarihçesinden, doğal gazın özellikleri, diğer gazlarla ve fosil yakıtları ile yakıt bileşimi ve yanma ile ilgili karşılaştırmaları incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, doğal gazın yapısı, oluşumu, depolama ve nakliye işlemlerindeki avantajları ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Doğal gazm diğer fosil yakıtlara nazaran çevre ve insan sağlığı üzerindeki etkileri bakımından daha makul olduğu ifade edilmiş, bu gerçek de İstanbul'un doğal gaz öncesi ve sonrası hava değişim raporlarına dayandırılmıştır. Öte yandan doğal gazm kullanım alanları da incelenmiş ve otomotivde daha az yakıt sarfiyatına bağlı olarak doğal gazm maliyetinin daha düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sanayi sektöründe de ucuz enerzi temini, temiz enerji temini gibi kolaylıklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Enerji dünyasında Türkiye'nin yeri, enerji politikamız nedir, nasıl olmalıdır ve enerji geleceğinde doğal gazm yeri konulan incelendiğinde Türkiye'nin enerji açığının yalnız doğal gaz ile karşılanamayacağı ortaya çıkmış ve bu da bizi başka enerji kaynaklarına sevk etmiştir. Doğal gazm teknik maliyetinde ise tamamen dövize bağlı olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu nedenle de pilot bölge doğal gaz maliyeti incelenmiştir. Yapılan bu incelemeler bu gerçeği açıkça ortaya koymuştur. Doğal gazm boru hattı ile taşınmasında kalite ve emniyete dikkat edilmesi, uyulması gereken kaideler ve benzeri hususlar da bu çalışmada masaya yatırılmıştır.

Mahmut KILIÇ The main topic to be handled in this master thesis is the importance of imported natural gas. In order to put out this importance in a more clear and effective way, we shall shortly review the his tory, basic features of natural gas, its components and its combination with other fossil-based gas combustibles. We shall also compare here the combustion characteristics of natural gas with those of other fossil-based gas combustibles. On the other hand, the structure, formation of natural gas and its advantageous sides of it with regard to its storage and transportation works shall also be handled in this master thesis. Depending on the reports regarding the changes of weather in Istanbul before and after the usage of natural gas, it has also been emphasized in this master thesis that natural gas, when compared with other fossil-based gas combustibles, is more acceptable and reasonable with regard to its affects on human health. On the other hand, industrial and civil sectors where the natural gas is used have been re viewed in this thesis and it has been ascertained that the costs for natural gas in automotive sector are at a lower level due to its lower consumption levels. As a result of the evaluation carried out in this master thesis, it has also been ascertained that natural gas provides some additional advantages such as providing cheap and clear energy. When we dealt in more details with such topics as to the position of Turkey in world of en ergy, as to what the energy policy of Turkey is and how it should be, it has been found out that the energy deficiency of Turkey can not be remedied by the importation of natural gas and that some other kind of energy sources should be obtained. When the technical-cost evaluation of natural gas has been carried out, it has also been found out that the natural gas, from the point of view of its cost, has some disadvantages due to the dependency of its importation on the foreign currencies. For that rea son, the costs of natural gas in some pilot regions have been examined. This examination has made more clear and supported the fact mentioned above. In this thesis, we have also included and reviewed the quality, standard and safety issues in transportation of natural gas with pipe-lines and basic criterions to be obtained.
