Özet
This thesis aims to understand the increasing necessity of integrating artificial intelligence techniques and supply chain in the globalizing and digitalizing world in order to maximize the benefits of using artificial intelligence in the supply chain. So the thesis describes multi-dimensional transformations of supply chains into digital transformation and intelligent techniques with artificial intelligence which provides easier control the rapidly increasing data and complex variables on the global scale. Also, with the contributions of artificial intelligence is one of the most frequently used implementations to make the complex structure of supply chain planning more predictable. AI estimates what clients can order with predictive analyzes according to their previous buying behavior. The algorithms that can create many estimates are capable of preparing the products sooner and reducing shipping time. Furthermore, the AI systems used in the supply chain, particularly for warehouse applications, decrease the issue of sending incorrect products and shorten the time of product release time from warehouse significantly. In the first chapter, the thesis explains what digitalization and digital transformation is as well as the strategies, advantages, and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence based on literature reviews and previous studies. The second chapter describes the supply chain management in a general sense, digital supply chain, and value-adds. In the third chapter, artificial intelligence is explained in detail from its history to its widely-known approaches such as artificial neural networks, machine learning, deep learning, expert systems, genetic algorithm, and fuzzy logic. Accordingly, chapter four expresses how to combine AI in supply chains with examples from the literature reviews. It is mentioned that AI can be useful in inventory control and planning, transportation network design, purchasing and supply management, demand planning, and forecasting, order picking, customer relationship management and supplier selection which are vital for organizations to carry out their activities in line with their objectives. Chapter five proposes seven hypotheses within the TOE and DOI frameworks to provide insights about AI-readiness factors for companies who wish to integrate AI into their supply chains and organizations. Lastly, chapter six evaluates the findings as a conclusion, explains the challenges and risks as well as future recommendations
