Özet
ÖZET İlköğretim okullarında temel fizik konulan, özellikle elektrik ve içeriğinde yer alan mağnetizma fen bilgisi programında geniş bir yer almaktadır. İlköğretimdeki öğrencilerin özellikle fizik konularında zorluk çektikleri bilinmektedir. Bununla birlikte, öğrencilerin ilk kavramsallaştırmalannı devam ettirme eğiliminde oldukları ve daha sonra öğrenilenleri bu kavramların üzerine oturtmaya çalıştıkları araştırmalarla ortaya koyulmuştur. Ancak bu konularda literatürde kapsamlı araştırmalara ülkemizde pek rastlanılmamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim okullarında 8. sınıf fen bilgisi dersindeki temel fizik konularından, öğrenciler tarafından anlaşılamayan veya anlaşılmasında zorluk çekilen kavramları öğrencilerin görüş ve düşünüşlerine dayalı olarak tespit etmektir. Üç bölümden oluşan bu çalışmanın ilk bölümünü, literatür taraması ve tasarlanan iki pilot çalışma ile geliştirilen basan testi oluşturmaktadır. Bu basan testi sekiz ilköğretim okulundaki 320 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, 10 ilköğretim öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilen mülakatlar verilmiştir. Son bölümde ise, elde edilen verilere dayalı olarak vanlan sonuçlar ve öneriler yer almaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular ve vanlan sonuçlann en önemlileri şöyledir: İlköğretim 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin yaklaşık % 30 'unun fen bilgisi kitabında yer alan elektrik konusu ile ilgili kavranılan anlayabildikleri tespit edilmiş ve öğrencilerin elektrik konusunda en çok yanılgıya düştüğü noktanın, bir devredeki lambalann parlaklığım lambalann üretece yakın olma durumuyla açıklamaya çalışmalan olduğu görülmüştür. Bu bulgunun, öğretmenlerin ders uygulama yöntemleri, ders kitaplan ve öğrencilerin öğretmenle iyi diyalog içinde bulunamamasmdan kaynaklandığı sonucuna vanlmıştır. Mağnetizma konusunda ise, bu oranın % 60'lar düzeyinde olduğu tespit edilmiş ve buna neden olarak ilgili konunun günlük yaşamda karşılaşılabİlen konulardan olduğu belirtilmiştir. Vanlan sonuçlara dayalı olarak, öğrencilerin farklı algılama düzeylerinden öğretmenlerin haberdar edilip buna paralel stratejiler ve ders kitaplanmn geliştirilmesi gerekliliği yapılan öneriler arasında yer almaktadır.

SUMMARY The 8th Grade Students' Levels Of Understanding Of The Introductory Physics Concepts Basic physics subjects, such as electric and magnetic contents have a wide place in elementary science curriculum. The related literature supports idea that these concepts known to difficult for students to understand. The students of this age have some preconceptions which may be different from the scientific one. Also, although they are taught formally in schools they still keep in many cases their preconceptions. The aim of study is to determine basic physics concepts which can not be understood by students at 8th grade. This study consists of three parts. The first part of study is about examining research related to the physics basic concepts in the literature. Also, in this part, a test was developed based on two pilot studies. The aim of the test was to find out 8th grade students' level of understanding of the introductory physics concepts. This achievement test was implemented to 320 students from eight different elementary school. In the second part of study, informal interviews were undertaken with 10 students. In the last part of study, results and recommendations were given after the collected data was analysed. Some of the important results are as follows: About 30 % of 8th grade students can understand electrical concepts in science book. Very interesting misconception of 8th grade students is that a lot of students says bulb near the cell is brighter than others. The reason of this result may come from the teaching methods, course books and deficiency of students' dialogues with teachers. The understanding level of magnetic concepts is 60 %. This level was found higher than electrical concepts. This can be explained that there are many examples of subjects in students' daily life. Many recommendations are made for improving the students' level of understanding and suggestions are given for future studies. Some of recommendations are given below: It's necessary for teachers to be aware of students' different understanding levels and to developed new strategies and course books with this thinking.
