Özet

compute the flow processes; the variation of gas temperature and pressure at any angular rotor position, the instantaneous volume change obtained in the geometric part has been utilized. The working clearances of rotors cause the delivery air leak back to lower pressure cavity and the gas temperature and pressure of the compressed volume are affected by the leakage flow. The thermodynamic analysis includes the effect of leakage. Leakage areas are found and the amount of leakage is estimated. Gas leakage is partially prevented by oil-injection. Oil-injection effects are also searched. In oil-injected compressors, heat transfer effect is investigated in two ways: These are the heat transfers between gas and finely dispersed oil droplets and between gas and oil film formed on the housing walls. In the analysis made with the input data, screw compressor performance properties like efficiency, pressure versus volume graph and indicated work are calculated as output data. The analyses are supported by text and graphical outputs.

ABSTRACT PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF SCREW COMPRESSORS Çetiner, H. Begüm M. S., Department of Mechanical Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Dr. O. Cahit Eralp Co-Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Metin Akkök June 1999, 149 Pages The aim of this study is to develop a computer model for the thermodynamic performance analysis of screw compressors. The program is created by using AutoCAD VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). The simulation of screw compressors consists of two main parts, which are geometric and thermodynamic simulations. In the geometric simulation part of the program, an analysis is made on the geometry of screw rotors. Using the available rotor profile data points or the user input data points, 2-D rotor profile geometry is generated, and then using the wrap angle 3-D rotor geometric parameters necessary for the thermodynamic analysis are calculated. By using these geometric parameters, related working areas are calculated and with the addition of the areas along the rotor length working volumes and variations are found at any angular position.
