Özet
ÖZET Uzun ve bol ürünlerle dolu ömrünün büyük kısmı, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti 'nin kuruluşunun yetmiş yılı içerisinde geçmiş olan Aydın Sayılı üzerine hazırlamış olduğumuz tezin ana başlığı“Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Döneminde Bir Bilge: Aydın Sayılfdır. Tez, 1. ”Önsöz“, II. ”Giriş“, III. ”Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin Yeri“, IV. ”Aydın Sayılı ve Onun Türk Kültür Tarihindeki Yeri“, V. ”Sonuç“, VI. ”Kaynakça“, başlıklı bölümlerden müteşekkildir. ”Önsöz“de, Cumhuriyet Devri Türk Bilgesi olarak ele aldığımız Aydın Sayılı üzerindeki incelememizin önemi üzerinde durulur. Tezin ”Giriş“ kısmında, ”Hikmet nedir?“, ”Bilge kimdir?“ sorular çerçevesinde bilgelik konusu incelenir. Hikmet tanımlarına yer verilir. Böylece, Cumhuriyet devri Türk bilgesi olarak ele aldığımız Aydın Sayılı'nın, gerek kişiliğinin, gerekse çalışmalarının söz konusu hikmet tanımlarına uyup uymadığını tespit etmek için zemin hazırlanır. ”Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin Yeri“ başlıklı bölüm, 1. ”Cumhuriyet Öncesi Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin Yeri“, 2. ”Cumhuriyet Devri Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin, Dilin ve Tarihin Yeri“ alt başlıkları altında mütalaa edilir. ”Cumhuriyet Devri Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin Yeri“ başlıklı kısımda, yazılı tarihin tâ başlangıcında yer alan ve insanlık kültürüne şehir devletleri, tapmak,şiir, destan, öykü, atasözü, kanun, okul, matematik, astronomi, ticaret, müzik, resim, heykel gibi yüce kültür değerlerini katmakta muvaffak olan Sumerlilerin Türklerle münasebeti üzerinde durulur ve bilimin Cumhuriyet devrine kadarki Türk kültür tarihindeki yeri analiz edilir. ”Cumhuriyet Devri Türk Kültür Tarihinde Bilimin, Dilin ve Tarihin Yeri“ başlıklı kısımda Atatürk'ün Bilim, Dil ve Tarih konuları üzerindeki inkılâp hareketlerinden söz edilir. ”Aydın Sayılı ve Onun Türk Kültür Tarihindeki Yeri“ başlıklı bölüm, on alt başlık altında incelenmiş olup, onda Aydın Sayılı'nın hayat hikâyesi, eserlerinin listesi, şahsiyeti, bilim tarihine verdiği önem, bilim, kültür ve batılılaşma anlayışı incelenir; İbn Türk, Harezmî, Fârâbî, Beyrûnî, İbn Sînâ gibi Türk bilgeleri, medrese, rasathane, hastahane, kütüphane gibi eğitim ve araştırına kurumları üzerindeki çalışmalara, Türk dili, Türk kültür tarihi üzerine katkılarına yer verilir. Tezin ”Sonuç“ kısmında, Aydın Sayılı'nın gerek kişiliğinin, gerekse çalışmalarının ”Giriş"te sunduğumuz bilgelik tanımları ile uyum içerisinde olduğu tespit edilir. Aydın Sayılı'nın Cumhuriyet devrinde yetişmiş bir Türk bilgesi olduğuna belirginlik kazandırılır.

SUMMARY The main title of the thesis that we prepared on Aydın Sayılı, who spent majority of his long and fruitful life in Turkey for seventy years from the foundation of the Republic of Turkey is :“A Wise Man in the Republican Period of Turkey: Aydın Sayılı”. The thesis consists of the following parts: I.“Preface”, II.“Introduction”, III.“The Position of Science in the Turkish Cultural History”, IV.“Aydın Sayılı and his Position in the Turkish Cultural History”, V.“Conclusion”, and VI.“Resources”. The“Preface”dwells upon the significance of our study on Aydın Sayılı whom we referred to as the Turkish Wise Man in the Republican Period. In the Introductory Part of the thesis, the subject of wisdom is studied in the frame work of the questions such as“What is wisdom?”and“Who is Wise Man”. The definitions of wisdom are given. Thus, I provide a basis in order to determine whether both the character and the studies of Aydın Sayılı, that we studied as a Turkish Wise Man in the Republican period, conform to the aforesaid definitions of wisdom. The part titled“The Position of Science in the Turkish Cultural History”is studied under the following subtitles: 1. The Position of Science in the Turkish Cultural History before the Republican Period. 2. The Position of Science, Language and History in the Turkish Cultural History during the Republican Period.The Part titled“The Position of Science in the Turkish Cultural History before the Republican Period”, dwells upon the relation of Turks with the Sumerians, who took place just at the beginning of the written history and provided such great cultural values as city, temple, poem, ballad, story, proverb, law, school, mathematics, astronomy, trade, music, art and statue. Furthermore an analysis is provided for the position of science in the Turkish cultural history before the Republican period. The part titled“The Position of Science, Language and History in the Turkish Cultural History during the Republican Period”gives a detailed information on the reformist activities of Atatürk on Science, Language and History. The part titled“Aydın Sayılı and his Position in the Turkish Cultural History”is studied under ten subtitles in which the biography of Aydın Sayılı, the list of his studies, his character, the significance he gave to the history of science, and his understanding of science, culture and westernization are studied. The Turkish Wise Men e.g. Ibn Türk, Harezmi, Farabi, Beynini, and Ibn Sina, their studies on education and research institutes such as medrese (muslim theological school), observatory, hospital and library, as well as their contributions on the Turkish language and the Turkish cultural history are mentioned in this thesis. In the“Conclusion”part of the thesis, it is determined that both the character and the studies of Aydın Sayılı conform to the definitions of wisdom provided in the introductory part.
