Özet

Festivaller, uzak geçmişten günümüze kadar toplumsal yaşamın dinamikleri arasında yer alan bir fenomendir. İnsanlığın belirgin bir amaç çevresinde bir araya geldiği etkinlik biçimi olarak festivaller, uygarlık tarihi boyunca, sosyokültürel zeminde, sanatsal üretim ve iletişim biçimlerindeki gelişmelerle paralellik göstererek, düzenlendiği zaman ve mekânda içeriğini yansıtan görsel biçimler ile bir kimliğe sahip olmuştur. Günümüzde ise grafik tasarım, bir içeriği yaratan ve sunan, nitelik kazandıran rolü ile festivallerin görsel kimlik kazanmasında, farklı platformlar ve uygulama biçimlerinde getirmiş olduğu iletişim çözümleriyle önemli roller üstlenmektedir. Bu çalışma festival görsel kimliğinin geçmişteki izlerine ve günümüzde festival görsel kimliğinde grafik tasarım disiplininin iletişim rolünü ele almaktadır. Birinci bölümde festival fenomeni, çeşitli disiplinlerin festivale dair tanımları, çalışmaları üzerinden incelenmiştir ve üç başlık altında yorumlanmıştır. İkinci bölümde festivalin tarihsel süreçte düzenlendiği medeniyet ve kültür ile bağlantılı olarak şekillenen içeriğinden ve görsel iletişim biçimlerinden bahsedilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde çağdaş festivaller ve görsel kimlik tasarımları incelenmiştir, grafik tasarım uygulama pratikleri doğrultusunda yorumlanmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde festival ve görsel kimlik ilişkisinin grafik tasarım disiplini ile şekillenen doğasına değinilmiş, festival iletişiminde görsel kimliğin rolü incelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise uygulama projesi olarak elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda bir sergileme tasarımı gerçekleştirilmiştir.

Festivals are phenomena that takes place among the dynamics of social life from the distant past to the present. Festivals, as a form of activity where humanity comes together around a clear purpose, have had an identity throughout the history of civilization with visual forms that reflect their content in the time and place they are organized, in parallel with the developments in the forms of artistic production and communication, on the socio-cultural ground. Today, graphic design plays an important role in the visual identity of festivals with its role that creates and presents a content and adds quality, with the communication solutions it has brought in different platforms and application forms. This study deals with the traces of the visual identity of the festival in the past and the communication role of the graphic design discipline in the visual identity of the festival today. In the first part, the festival phenomenon is examined through the definitions and studies of various disciplines and interpreted under three headings. In the second part, the content of the festival, which is shaped in connection with the civilization and culture in which it was organized in the historical process, and the forms of visual communication are mentioned. In the third part, contemporary festivals and visual identity designs are examined and interpreted in line with graphic design application practices. In the fourth chapter, the nature of the relationship between the festival and visual identity shaped by the discipline of graphic design is mentioned, and the role of visual identity in festival communication is examined. In the last part, an exhibition design was realized in line with the information obtained as an application project.
