The number of refugees has increased significantly in recent years and there are few studies in this area. Refugees suffer from severe psychological illnesses as they experience events that lead to psychological trauma. Each factor that directly affects a person's life, such as wars, explosions, assault, rape, torture and leaving the homeland due to violent conflict, is a cause of trauma. Some studies have shown that posttraumatic stress disorder is one of the most serious diseases experienced by refugees. The aim of this quantitative study is to compare of social cognition and social functioning between Syrian refugees with post-traumatic stress disorder and healthy controls. The study will answer the following research question: Does PTSD effects the social functioning and social cognition of Syrian refugees? This study will be carried out in Şanlıurfa,and Istanbul in Turkey, the cities where the majority of Syrian refugees are. A total of 35 adult individuals diagnosed with PTSD according to DSM5 diagnostic criteria will be participate in the study from Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif Inan Education and Research Hospital. For comparison, there will be 35 healthy controls from Istanbul Refugee Association. To measure the quality of life of the refugees, The Social Functionality Scale; to measure the social cognition of the refugees, Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET) will be used. In addition, Sociodemographic form was used to obtain personal information from each participant.
