Özet
Astım, yaşam kalitesini düşüren ve ciddi iş gücü kayıplarına sebep olan havayollarının kronik inflamatuar hastalığıdır. Bu hastalık, az solunum kapasitesi, boğaz temizleme, öksürük gibi belirtileriyle ses problemlerine sebebiyet vermektedir. Bununla birlikte yapılan tedaviler de ses kalitesini etkilemektedir. İnhaler kullanımı ses bozuklukları gibi yan etki yaparken ağır astımlı hastalarda kullanılan enjeksiyon, hastaların astım belirtilerini azalttığı için dolaylı yoldan ses sağlığına katkıda bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamız astımlı hastaların astım dereceleriyle ses kalitesi ve ses kalitesiyle yaşam kalitesi arasındaki ilişkiyi; seslerinin duygusal, sosyal hayatlarını etkileme derecesini, tedavide kullanılan inhaler çeşidinin ve nazal polibe sahip olmalarının ses sağlığı üzerindeki etkisini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmaya yaşları 25 – 76 arasında toplam 54 kadın ve erkekten oluşan, ağır astımlı, enjeksiyon tedavisi gören katılımcılar dahil edilmiştir. Astım derecelerini belirleyen bilgiler, ses kalitelerini analiz edebilmek için ses kayıtları, seslerinin hayatlarına etkisi için de Ses Handikap Endeksi puanları toplanmıştır. Katılımcıların astım dereceleri Astım Kontrol Testi ile belirlenmiştir. Veriler tanımlayıcı ve çıkarımsal istatistik yöntemleri ile analiz edildi. Elde edilen sonuçlar, astım hastalığının kişilerin akustik analiz parametrelerini ve ses sağlıklarına bağlı yaşam kalitelerini olumsuz yönde etkilediğini göstermiştir. Ses Handikap Endeksi sonuçları ağır astımlı hastaların ses sağlığı ile ilgili sosyal, duygusal problemleri yoğun yaşamadığını göstermiştir. Akustik analiz parametreleri astımın derecesi, inhaler çeşidi ve nazal polip varlığı ile ilişkili bulunmuştur. Bununla birlikte kişinin sesinin yaşam kalitesine olan etkisi astım ve tedavi yönteminden etkilenmektedir. Ağır astımlı hastaların kullandıkları inhalerin çeşidinin ses kalitesini etkilediği bulunmuştur. Hastaların naz polibi olmasının ses kalitelerini olumsuz etkilediği bulgulanmıştır. Çalışmamız literatürle uyumlu bir şekilde astım ve tedavisinin ses kalitesini olumsuz etkilediğini göstermiştir.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways that reduces quality of life and causes severe labour loss. This disease causes certain voice problems with symptoms such as reduced breathing capacity, throat clearing, coughing. It also significantly affects the voice quality in the treatments performed. While the use of inhaled corticosteroids has side effects such as voice disorders, the injection used in patients with severe asthma indirectly contributes to vocal health as it reduces the asthma symptoms of the patients. Our study aims to investigate the relationship between the degree of asthma and voice quality, the relationship between voice quality and quality of life, the degree to which voices affect the emotional and social lives of asthmatic patients, the types of inhalers used in treatment and the effect of having nasal polyps on vocal health. A total of 54 men and women aged 25-76 years, with severe asthma, receiving injection therapy were included in the study. Information on the degree of asthmas, voice recordings to analyse voice quality, and Voice Handicap Index scores for the impact of their voice on their lives were collected. The asthma grades of the participants were aimed with the Asthma Control Test. Data were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results showed that asthma disease negatively affected the acoustic analysis parameters and quality of life related to voice health. The results of the study showed that patients with severe asthma did not experience intense social and emotional problems related to vocal health. Acoustic analysis parameters were correlated with the degree of asthma, type of inhaler and presence of nasal polyps. With this, the effect of their voice on quality of life is affected by asthma and the treatment method applied. The type of inhaler used by patients with severe asthma was found to affect voice quality. It was found that nasal polyps had a negative effect on voice quality. Our study showed that asthma and its treatment negatively affected voice quality in accordance with the literature.
