Özet

Ulusal kimlik kavramı ulus devletlerin oluşumunda rol oynayan en önemli öğe olarak görülmektedir. Ulusal kimliğin inşası sürecinde kültürel benzerlik ve aidiyet gibi öğeler araç olarak kullanılmaktadır. Eğitim ve buna bağlı olarak geliştirilen eğitim politikaları bu değerlerin topluma empoze edilmesinde önemli bir işlev görmektedir. Ulusal kimlik düşüncesi süreç içerisinde bireylerin vatandaş durumuna gelmesini sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada ulus devlet ve ulusal kimlik kavramlarının analizinden hareketle Erken Cumhuriyet dönemi eğitim politikalarının ülkede ulusal kimliğin oluşumuna yaptığı etkilerin ve eğitim alanında uygulanan politikaların liderlere göre uygulanışında süreklilik durumunun ne olduğu sorusuna cevap aranacaktır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde ulusal kimlik üzerinden kavramsal çerçeve ortaya konacaktır. İkinci bölüm Atatürk döneminin eğitim alanındaki değişimlere odaklanarak uygulanan politikaların ulusal kimlik ile bağlantısı ifade edilecektir. Son bölümde ise İnönü döneminde yürütülen politikalar incelenerek dönemin ana hatları anlatılacaktır.

The concept of national identity is seen as the most important factor in the formation of nation-states. In the process of national identity construction, factors such as cultural similarity and belonging are used as tools. Education, and the education policies developed consequently, are playing an important function to impose these values upon society. Within the process, the idea of national identity enables individuals to become citizens. In this study, based on the analysis of the concepts of nation state and national identity, an answer will be sought to the question of the effects of the Early Republican period education policies on the formation of national identity in the country and the continuity of the policies applied in the field of education according to the leaders. In the first part of the study, the conceptual framework will be revealed through national identity. The second part will focus on the changes in the field of education in Atatürk's period and will express the connection between the policies implemented and the national identity. In the final part, the policies carried out during the İnönü period will be examined and the outlines of the period will be explained.
