14 ABSTRACT This study is a Master thesis. The aim of this study is to investigate the Uluborlu-Senirkent and Hoyran regions from the geographical point of view. The area of study is located in the north of the Antalya region in the Mediterranean. The area of study is administered by İsparta and has a landspace of 1721 km2. In the north this area Afyonkarahisar; in the east Yalvaç (İsparta); in the south Gelendost, Atabey and Gönen (İsparta); and in the west Keçiborlu (İsparta) are located. The area of study is surrounded by high mountains such as Kılınçlıağın Mountain (2000 m.), Bozdağ Mountain (1295 m.), Kirişli Mountain (1893 m.), Kapıdağ Mountain (2447 m.), Beşparmak Mountain (2402 m.) and Gelincik Mountain (2799 m.). According to the data for 14 years, the average temparature Per year in Senirkent is 12.3 C° and in Uluborlu 1 1.7 C° and again according to this data the average rain Per year in Senirkent is 822.2 mm. and in Uluborlu 675.4 mm. İn the area of study, the settlement has begun 4000 years ago and today (in 1997) there are two boroughs and 25 villages. The total population in the region is 49428, 26684 (54.0 %) of which is the rural population and 22744 (46 %) of which is the urban population. The main problem about the population is the fact that many people have immigrated. According to the obtained data, 1183 people have immigrated abroad and 6807 people have immigrated to others places in the country from this region. The population density in the region is quiete low. In 1997 there were 28.7 people Per km2. Most of the people in the region earn their living from agriculture and animal breeding whereas the industry, has not developed. There are small industrial organisations. Uluborlu and Senirkent are the centers of trade for the rural population around.
