Özet
Bu tez, önemli distopya yazarlarının seçilmiş romanlarında insan psikolojisi ve toplumsal değerlerin doğa/dış dünya ile olan ilişkisini göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. George Orwell' ın Bin Dokuz Yüz Seksen Dört, Aldous Huxley'nin Ape and Essence ve Anthony Burgess' ın The Wanting Seed adlı romanları, distopik ve apokaliptik yönlerinin yanı sıra ekopsikoloji ve ekosofi teorileri üzerinden incelenecektir. Bu eserler ekopsikoloji ve ekosofi çerçevesinde incelenirken dış dünyanın durumunun insanın iç dünyasını ve o toplumdaki toplumsal değerleri nasıl etkilediğine tanık olunur. Distopik eserler, savaşlar, teknolojinin kontrolsüz gelişimi, dünyaya hakim olmak için güç çatışmaları, aşırı nüfus vb. yıkıcı olaylar sonucu bozulduğu için doğadan yoksun olduğundan, insan ve doğa arasındaki bağın koptuğuna tanık oluyoruz. Bu distopik toplumlarda yaşayan insanlar bu kaybın farkında olmasalar da psikolojik ve ruhsal olarak ihtiyaç duydukları şifacıyı bulamadıkları için psikolojilerine ve sosyal hayatlarına yansır. Çeşitli eleştirmen ve teorisyenlerin ifadelerine dayanarak, dış ve iç dünya arasında güçlü bir bağ olduğu ve bir bütün olarak varlıklarını devam ettirebilmeleri için birbirlerine ihtiyaç duydukları, dolayısıyla fiziksel, psikolojik ve sosyal olarak sağlıklı bir yaşam sürdürebilmek için bu gezegendeki tüm canlılar arasında uyumlu bir ilişki olması gerektiği ileri sürülmektedir.

This dissertation aims at showing the interconnectedness of human psychology and social values with nature/ outer world in selected novels by significant dystopia writers. George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, Aldous Huxley's Ape and Essence, Anthony Burgess's The Wanting Seed will be analyzed mainly through the theories of ecopsychology and ecosophy in addition to the dystopian and apocalyptic sides of the mentioned novels. While analyzing these works within the frame of ecopsychology and ecosophy, it is witnessed how the situation of outer world affects the inner world of human and the social values in that society. As the dystopian works lack of nature because it is ruined as a result of devastating events like wars, uncontrolled development of technology, clashes of power to dominate the world, overpopulation etc, we witness that the connection between the human and nature is lost. Although people living in these dystopian societies are not aware of this loss, it reflects on their psychology and social life because they cannot find the healer they need psychologically and spiritually. Based on various critics' and theorists' statements, it is propounded that there is a strong connection between the outer and inner world and they need each other to be able to be a whole, so there should be harmony among all beings on this planet in order to sustain a healthy life physically, psychologically and socially.
