Ruhi Köse Eylül, 1998, 121 sayfa Bu çalışmada, Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi son sınıf öğrencilerinin yaşadıkları en önemli problemler ile fakülte, cinsiyet ve aile sosyo- ekonomik düzeyi arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 1997- 1998 öğretim yılında Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi 'ndeki beş fakültede yer alan 34 bölüme devam eden 885 son sımf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır.VI Araştırmanın verileri, ODTÜ öğrencilerinin belirlenen alanlarındaki en önemli problemlerini tespit etmek ve ölçmek amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen“Öğrenci Problem Anketi”nden yararlanılarak toplanmıştır. Belirlenen problem alanları ile öğrencilerin fakülteleri, cinsiyetleri ve aile sosyo- ekonomik statüleri arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek üzere“cross- tabulations”ve“chi square”teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, ODTÜ son sımf öğrencilerinin akademik,sosyal ve mesleki alanlarda önemli problemlerinin olduğunu ortaya çıkarmakla birlikte, öğretim görevlileri, dersler, ödevler, sınavlar ve değerlendirme sistemi, yabancı dil, üniversite yönetimi, meslek, arkadaşlık ilişkileri, karşı cinsle ilişkiler ve sosyal aktiviteler ile ilgili problem alanları ile fakülte, cinsiyet ve aile sosyo ekonomik statüsü arasında önemli ilişkiler bulunduğunu ortaya koymuştur.

tu ABSTRACT A STUDY ON THE PROBLEMS OF THE MIDDLE EAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY SENIOR STUDENTS Gizir, Cem Ali M.S. in Educational Sciences Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Ruhi Köse September 1998, 121 pages The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate the most important self- reported problems of Middle East Technical University senior students as associated with their faculty, gender and family socio- economic status. The sample of the present study consists of 885 undergraduate senior students from thirty- four departments across five different faculties in Middle East Technical University during 1997- 1998 academic year.IV The data were gathered by utilizing by a“Self- Report Student Questionnaire”which was developed by the researcher in order to identify and measure the most important problems of METU students in selected problem areas. The cross-tabulations were used to determine any association between student responses related to their most important problems and their faculty, gender, and family SES using the chi- square test as a measure of significance. The results of this study provide evidence that METU senior students have a number of significant problems in academic, social, and career areas. Furthermore, the results of this study revealed that there is an association between faculty, gender and family SES, and student responses related to their most important problems including, instructor; course; assignments, exams, and evaluation; foreign language; administration; career; friendship relations; relations with the opposite sex; and social activities related problems.
