This study focuses on forecast performance of the financial analysts to evaluate the argument whether after successive periods of accurate forecasts, analysts overconfidently forecast ignoring the public information and mainly focusing on their private information. The results show that private information is insignificant for explaining the dependent variables, namely deviation from the consensus and the forecast error. This result may be due to analysts' cyclical behaviour of overconfidence as a period of undervaluing public information followed by a period of discounting private information. In the end both effects cancel each other out on average, resulting with insignificance of private information proxy variables.
