Özet
ÖZET Tezin amacı bölge kalkınmasında yükseköğretimin ne gibi etkilere sahip olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda geri kalmış bir yöre olan Niğde ilinin gelişme dinamiklerini tespit etmek ve Niğde'nin sosyal-ekonomik açıdan kalkınmasının hangi araçlar kullanarak gerçekleşebileceğini araştırmak yine bu tezin konusunu oluşturmaktadır. 1 Birinci bölümde, bölgesel ekonomi ve alansal analizin teorik çerçevesi çizilmiştir. Kuruluş yeri ve etki alam teorileri, bölge tipleri ve bölgelerarası etkileşim konulan incelendikten sonra bölgesel dengesizliğin ortaya çıkış sürecinin ekonomik analizi incelenerek, bu dengesizliklerin ortadan kaldırılmasına yönelik politikalar incelenmiş ve nihayet kutuplaşma teorisi konularına bu bölümde temas edilmiştir. İkinci bölüm, eğitim ve ekonomi arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymaktadır. Eğitimin ekonomi üzerindeki rolü, insan sermayesinin ve dışsallığın ekonomiyi ne ölçüde etkilediği bu bölümde sorgulanmıştır. Ayrıca Eğitimde verimlilik ve etkinlik, eğitimde sistem analizi, eğitimin finansmanı, eğitim-ekonomik büyüme gibi konular bu bölümde incelenmiştir. Üçüncü ve son bölümde, Niğde ilinin sosyo- ekonomik profili çizilmiş, üniversite kent arasındaki korelasyon, eğitim-bölgesel kalkınma bağlamında araştırılmıştır. Niğde ilinin bölgesel kalkınmasında Niğde Üniversitesinin bir sürükleyici birim, motorize güç veya kalkınma kutbu olabilir mi? sorusuna bu bölümde cevap aranmaktadır. Birinci ve ikinci bölümler teorik çerçevede ele alınmış, bu arada istatistik ve amprik bulgulardan da faydalanılmıştır. Son bölümde daha çok istatistiki veriler kullanılmış ve saha çalışması yapılmıştır.

ABSTRACT The main aim of this thesis, is to describe the effect of high education on the development of Niğde province. Niğde province is not on developed region of Turkey, so it is also aim of the thesis that investigating the ways and methods for social- economic developing the region. In the first chapter theoritical frame of the regional economy has been defined. After investigating the theories of establishment place and effect area, types of region and interaction between regions, the economical analysis of regional unequality has been performed. The policies for the solution of regional unequality have also been investigated in this chapter. The second chapter deals with the relationship between education and economy. The role of the education on economy has been investigated. The efficiency and productivity in education the system analysis in education, the financial support for education have also been investigated in this chapter. In the final chapter the social and economic profile of Niğde has been drawn. The correlation between the university and the city has been investigated in terms of education regional development. An answer has been searched for the question of whether Niğde University can play a motor role in the development of Niğde While the investigations have been done in theorical frame in the first and second chapters. In the final chapter mainly statistical finding have been used and faced study has been performed.
