The purpose of this study was to reveal how the Islamic State in the Middle East (ISIS) is using the Salafi Jihadism as a way of expanding its effect in the Middle East and legitimizing its merciless acts against the followers of other religions and other Muslim sects. The study showed us that the ISIS is the bloodiest Salafi Jihadist group which uses core tenets of Salafism to make its attacks legitimate or acceptable in the eyes of their followers. This study also showed us that the Islamic State totally adopt the four aims of the Salafi Jihadists, which includes uniting the ummah living in different countries, ousting corrupt and apostate Muslim governments, wiping out the Western influence from those countries; and abolishing state boundaries and creating the Caliphate. Depending on the acts and rhetoric of the Islamic State, this study concluded that the Islamic State meets all necessary requirements to be coded as a Salafi Jihadist terrorist organization.
