Özet

Türkiye 1923 yılında ilan edilen cumhuriyet öncesinde ve sonrasında türlü badireler atlatmıştır. Öncelikle ülke işgalden kurtarılmış sonrasında iç ve dış ekonomik ve sosyal sorunlarla boğuşulmuştur. 1946 yılına kadar tek parti ile yönetilen Türkiye'de, II. Dünya Savaşı sonrasında dünyada oluşan demokrasi rüzgârının da etkisi ile çok partili siyaset ancak 1946 yılında başlayabilmiştir. 1946 yılı başında kurulan Demokrat Parti 1950 yılından itibaren arka arkaya üç seçim kazanmıştır. 1957 yılından itibaren kendini iyice hissettiren ekonomide yönetim zaafları hem muhalefeti güçlendirmiş, hem de toplumda iktidara karşı tepkiyi arttırmıştır. Toplumdaki tepkiyi azaltamayan DP iktidarı sert önlemlere başvurmuştur. Bu önlemler karşısında daha fazla artan tepkiler kontrolden çıkmış ve sonunda 27 Mayıs Askeri Darbesi gerçekleşmiştir. 27 Mayıs'ın hemen ertesinde darbeden sonrasını planlamayan subaylar tarafından anayasa profesörlerinin telkini ile Milli Birlik Komitesi kurulmuştur. Profesörlerin hazırladığı Geçici Anayasa ile eski iktidar üye ve milletvekilleri Yassıada'da hazırlanan mahkeme ile yargılanmıştır. Bu çalışmada üzerinden 60 yıl geçmesine rağmen toplumda ve siyasette etkisini yitirmemiş olan 27 Mayıs Darbesi ve Demokrat Parti yöneticilerinin yargılanmalarının öncesi ile birlikte sonuçları; zamanın tanıklarının görüşleri, dönemin TBMM zabıt tutanakları, Yassıada Mahkemesi tutanakları ve bu alandaki kitap ve araştırmalardan yararlanarak incelenmektedir.

Turkey has survived various troubles before and after the republic declared in 1923. First of all, the country was liberated from the occupation, and then it struggled with domestic and foreign economic and social problems. In Turkey, which was ruled by a Single Party until 1946, multi-party politics could only start in 1946, with the effect of the wind of democracy that emerged in the world after the Second World War. The Democratic Party, which was founded at the beginning of 1946, has won three consecutive elections since 1950. The weaknesses of the management in the economy, which have made itself felt since 1957, both strengthened the opposition and increased the reaction against the government in the society. The DP government, which could not reduce the reaction in the society, resorted to drastic measures. The increasing reactions against these measures got out of control and finally the 27 May Military Coup took place. Right after the 27th of May, the officers who did not plan the aftermath of the coup established the National Unity Committee with the suggestion of the Constitutional Professors. With the Temporary Constitution prepared by the professors, former ruling members and deputies were tried by the court prepared in Yassıada. In this study, the 27 May Coup, which has not lost its influence in society and politics despite the fact that 60 years have passed, and the results of the Democratic Party executives before their trial, are examined by using the opinions of the witnesses of the time, the Parliamentary Minutes of the period, the Yassıada Court Minutes and the books and researches in this field.
