The effect of floods can become severe with the impact on the impermeable area due result of a rapid urbanization and deforestation in many countries. For this reason, the purpose of this dissertation is to examine the relationship between urbanization and land clearance and floods on Değirmendere Basin, Trabzon, Turkey. In this dissertation, the influence of the flooding on the Değirmendere Catchment is to be investigated with Arc-GIS, HEC-GeoRAS, HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS modelling programs. The floods can be mitigated by means of these programs. Moreover, the link between these two topics is to be discussed at the end of this survey. Finally, the outcomes of this research can assist to achieve a new and different perspective and approach for Değirmendere Basin.
