Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, çoklu ortam ilkesinin ilkokul ikinci sınıf öğrencilerinin okuduğunu anlama testi başarısına ve kalıcılığına etkisini araştırmaktır. Araştırma örneklemini 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılının ilk döneminde, İstanbul ilinde özel bir okulda okuyan 102 ilkokul ikinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada“Okuduğunu Anlama Başarı Testi”öntest, sontest ve kalıcılık testi olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sürecinde deney grubu öğrencileri çoklu ortam ilkesine dayalı hazırlanan hikaye metinleriyle ders işlerken kontrol grubu öğrencileri çoklu ortam ilkesine dayalı olmayan hikaye metinleriyle ders işlemiştir. Araştırma ilkokul öğrencilerinin okuduğunu anlama başarısı üzerine yapıldığı için önem oluşturmakla birlikte araştırmanın sonucunda bu yaş grubundaki öğrenciler için ders materyallerine ilgili görsellerin eklenmesinin öğrencilerin okuduğunu anlama başarılarını arttırdığı ortaya çıkmıştır (Z=-3,69; p<0,05). Gruplara göre okuduğunu anlama kalıcılık testi puanlarının ortalamaları birbirine yakın çıkmış olup anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği ortaya çıkmıştır (U=998,50; Z=-1,75; p>0,05).

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the multimedia principle on the success and retention of primary school 2nd-grade students in the reading comprehension test. The research sample consists of 102 primary school 2nd-grade students studying in a private school in Istanbul in the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. In this study, the“Reading Comprehension Achievement Test”was used as the pre-test, the post-test, and the retention test. During the research process, while the experimental group students were taught with story texts prepared based on the multimedia principle, the control group students were taught with story texts that were not based on the multimedia principle. The findings of this research are important because the research aims to investigate the effects of the multimedia principle on primary school students' reading comprehension success, and as a result of the research, it has been revealed that adding related visuals to the course materials for students in this age group increases the students' reading comprehension success (Z=-3.69; p<0.05). The averages of the reading comprehension retention test scores of the experiment and control groups were close to each other and did not show a statistically significant difference (U=998.50; Z=-1.75; p>0.05).
