The SR300 RealSense Camera, a product of Intel, has been produced to generate 3D point clouds from any topology. In this study, this camera is used to create point clouds of dishwasher base carriers. Point clouds are analyzed to detect defects and deformations in the geometry of the base carriers which are part of household dishwashers. Such a defect can be caused by various reasons; for example, a broken die in injection moulding process. In this thesis, a study was started for processing a system consisting of an Intel SR300 camera. The system will be located near the dispatching conveyor, which carries and monitors each base carrier in the coming years. At this stage of the thesis, the accuracy of the geometry measurement was determined with the Intel SR300 camera. A test equipment was composed for this purpose. A program was encoded in C ++ language that takes, visualizes and analyzes point clouds from the Intel SR300 camera. It is possible to inspect the plastic parts and to detect the product defects by using Intel's RealSense SR300 3D camera. Although the sensitivity data of this camera is high as stated in its introductory guide, it lagged slightly behind this level during the practical tests. During the tests applied with the SR300 camera, it was observed that the camera was not very stable. Similar tests were also applied with two different cameras, which are Ensenso N35- 802-16-BL and Ensenso X36-5CP. The results were better in terms of depth resolution but the cameras lacked in scanning speed. This system will have benefits in a production line. It will be possible to detect defects more quickly and take immediate action. In this way, any defective product will be able to be separated at a very early stage which will remove the old and inconvenient efforts to detect the defects of the product. Faultless productions will be put into use more quickly when using high-resolution cameras having better sensitivity data and speed, in such a production line.
