Özet
Bu çalışma, Trabzon ili Maçka ilçesine 14 km uzaklıkta Kiremitli köyünde dik bir kayalıkta farklı dönemlerde kurulmuş Vazelon Manastır kompleksini konu edinmektedir. Manastırın ilk evresi olarak kabul edilen ve MS 270'li yıllarda Yahya deresi yakınlarında bulunan bir şapelin varlığı eski kaynaklarda da belirtilmiştir. Bundan sonraki süreçte manastır, Zavulon dağındaki mevcut konumunda üç evrede inşa edilmiştir. Aziz Basileius'un ilkelerine uygun bir şekilde inşa edilen manastır, Maçka yöresinde ibadethane, misafirhane, okul, mahkeme, noter gibi hizmetler veren ve rahipler yetiştiren bir kurum görevi üstlenmiştir. Vaftizci Yahya'ya adanmış manastır, Bizans ve Osmanlı döneminde, Maçka yöresinin sosyo-kültürel, iktisadi ve dini yaşamında önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Çalışmamızın amacı, bu yapıyı mimari dekorasyon, plan ve duvar resimleri açısından değerlendirmek ve elde edilen bilgiler dâhilinde bölgedeki diğer manastır kompleksleri ile karşılaştırarak değerlendirmektir. Elde edilen bilgiler, Vazelon Manastırı'nın bölgedeki örnekleri arasındaki yerini ve önemini anlamamıza katkı sağlamaktadır. Manastırda kullanılan malzemenin ve sanatsal özelliklerinin tamamının yöreye has bir kimlikte olduğu görülmektedir.

This disertation, the Vazelon monastery complex established in different periods on a steep rocky cliff in the village of Kiremitli, 14 km from the town of Maçka Trabzon. Considered as the first phase of the monastery, MS 270s It was stated in the ancient sources that there was a chapel near phases Yahya stream in. In the next period, the monastery was built in three stages of the current location on Zavulon mountain. The monastery, built in accordance with the principles of St. Basileius, has undertaken the task of raising priests providing services such as places of worship, guesthouse, school, court and notary in Maçka. The monastery dedicated to John the Baptist played an important role in the socio-cultural, economic and religious life of the Byzantine and Ottoman periods of Maçka region. The aim of our study is to evaluate the complex in terms of architectural decoration, plan and wall paintings and to intend to compare it with other monastery complexes in the region. The information obtained contributes to our understanding of its place and importance of the Vazelon monastery among the regional samples. It is seen that the material used and the artistic features of the monastery have a unique identity.
