Özet
In parallel with mobile technologies that have come into our life in recent years, mobile learning has become a prevalent and fast moving area of research and application. Mobile learning has come to the forefront at foreign language education in which technology plays a significant role. The study aimed to investigate the role of mobile assisted language learning (hereafter referred to as MALL) in the development of the 4 language skills of English and the extent of which it influences the 4 language skills in the process of English learning. Another objective of this study was to determine students' and teachers' attitudes towards MALL and the effects of MALL on EFL students in terms of its advantages and its disadvantages. In this study, a survey was conducted by two questionnaires applied to both students and teachers in order to seek answers to the research questions and provide insight to the objective of the study. 67 students participating in the study were requested to respond to the questions in section 1 and the items in section 2 to examine the students' tendency to use mobile device for learning English, the effect of MALL on their development of the 4 skills and their attitudes towards MALL. In the teacher questionnaire, 10 teachers were requested to respond to the items in section 1, and 3 closed-ended and 4 open-ended questions in section 2 to examine their attitudes towards MALL and the effects of MALL on the development of the 4 skills. The data obtained from the two questionnaires were viii analysed statistically and descriptively. According to the findings of the survey, EFL students utilized their mobile devices most to develop their listening skills, while they stated that mobile devices were more effective in the development of speaking skill. Besides, the teachers claimed that mobile devices had significantly beneficial effect in the development of listening skill. It was also found that the EFL students generally adopted a positive attitude towards MALL thanks to their familiarity with mobile devices. The teachers, like the students, expressed a positive opinion on the method, while they stated that MALL had disadvantages for EFL students as well as advantages. Finally, the survey findings suggested that MALL had a useful role in the development of listening and speaking skills. However, it had minor role in the development of reading and writing skills

Wraz z technologiami mobilnymi, które pojawiły się w naszym życiu w ostatnich latach, mobilna nauka stała się powszechnym i szybko rozwijającym się obszarem badań i zastosowań. Mobilna nauka wysunęła się na pierwszy plan w edukacji językowej, w której technologia odgrywa znaczącą rolę. Badanie miało na celu zbadanie roli nauki języka wspomaganej mobilnie (zwanej dalej MALL) w rozwoju 4 umiejętności językowych języka angielskiego oraz stopnia, w jakim wpływa ona na 4 umiejętności językowe w procesie nauki języka angielskiego. Kolejnym celem tego badania było określenie postaw uczniów i nauczycieli wobec MALL oraz wpływu MALL na uczniów EFL w zakresie jego zalet i wad. W ramach tego badania przeprowadzono ankietę w dwóch kwestionariuszach jeden dla uczniów, drugi dla nauczycieli w celu uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytania badawcze. 67 uczniów biorących udział w badaniu zostało poproszonych o udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytania zawarte w vi sekcji 1 oraz w pozycjach z sekcji 2 aby zbadać ich stosunek do korzystania z urządzeń mobilnych do nauki języka angielskiego, wpływu MALL na rozwój 4 umiejętności oraz ich postawy wobec MALL. W kwestionariuszu dla nauczycieli, 10 z nich zostało poproszonych o udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytania z sekcji 1, 3 pytania zamknięte i 4 pytania otwarte z sekcji 2, aby zbadać ich postawy wobec MALL i wpływu MALL na rozwój 4 umiejętności. Dane uzyskane z tych dwóch kwestionariuszy zostały przeanalizowane statystycznie i opisowo. Zgodnie z wynikami ankiety, uczniowie EFL najbardziej wykorzystywali swoje urządzenia mobilne do rozwijania umiejętności słuchania, twierdząc również, że urządzenia mobilne są bardziej efektywne w rozwijaniu umiejętności mówienia. Ponadto, nauczyciele twierdzili, że urządzenia mobilne mają znacząco korzystny wpływ na rozwój umiejętności słuchania. Stwierdzono również, że uczniowie EFL na ogół wykazywali pozytywne nastawienie do MALL dzięki swojej znajomości urządzeń przenośnych. Nauczyciele, podobnie jak uczniowie, wyrazili pozytywną opinię na temat tej metody, a jednocześnie stwierdzili, że MALL ma zarówno wady jak i zalety dla uczniów EFL. Ostatecznie, wyniki badania sugerują, że MALL odgrywa użyteczną rolę w rozwoju umiejętności słuchania i mówienia, aczkolwiek odgrywa niewielką rolę w rozwoju umiejętności czytania i pisania
