Strategic management is a process which delivers general direction to the organizations to specify the strategic objectives, help the owners and managers to develop long-term policies and plans designed to accomplish these objectives, and then allocate the organizations resources to implement that plans (Abodese et al. 2016). In particular, the organizations who involves the strategic management processes would be better set for the threats and opportunities both in the external and internal environment, get better financial results in the contrasted to their rivals in the industry which don't apply those processes (Wang et al. 2007). However, it is seen in the previous researches (Orser et al. 2000, Beaver 2003, Kraus et al. 2007, Hudson-Smith & Smith 2007) that many small and medium sized companies are fail to survive on their business due to the not having a proper strategic management. SMES in the Turkey are crucial for the economic development of the country in terms of the workforce and the value added investments and the export rates. The SMES are constituting the 65% of the total value added in the economy, have the %60 percentage in the total exports in Turkey (Karadag 2015). The aim of this research study explain the strategic management process on how it can affect the way of SMEs in Turkish machinery industry where they operate. It is also aimed to help those relevant SMES to get sensitive on the strategic management processes and utilize and improve those processes on the companies. The study is conducted in qualitative method with the inductive approach with 10 indepth semi-structured interviews with the managers of SMES in the Turkish machinery industry to reach the aim of the study. It is found that the processes in the strategic management useful and appropriate for the companies since those processes help companies to improve their business operations and the companies could be benefit in the long term implementing all of those processes.
