Özet
Bu çalışma, genel bir kabulün sonucu insandaki ruh-beden ikiliğinin yanı sıra benzerlik ve karşıtlıklardan doğan ikiliklere duyulan merak ve onları açıklığa kavuşturma ihtiyacı üzerinden temellendirilmiş 'öteki ben' kavramını ele almaktadır. İlkel toplumlardaki ruh inancını, mitleri, hikâyeleri de özümsemiş olan 'öteki ben' kavramının değişen ve gelişen tarihsel süreç ve toplumsal yapı içerisindeki insan, sorgulanan ve keşfedilmeye çalışılan 'ben' doğrultusunda edebî ifadesini de bulduğu görülmektedir. Romantizm ile birlikte Batı'da verilen eserlerde belirgin bir motif haline gelen 'öteki ben' fantastik türün sağladığı elverişli ortam ile çeşitli şekillerde sunulabilmiştir. Bu bağlamda ise Batı ve Türk edebiyatları içerisinde kurgularında 'öteki ben' motifine yer veren özellikle 19. ve 20. yüzyıllardaki en dikkat çekici eserlerden örnekler verilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın odağında İhsan Oktay Anar'ın Puslu Kıtalar Atlası ile Anjel Lertxundi'nin Otto Pette romanları bulunmaktadır. Söz konusu eserlerdeki 'öteki ben'lerin aslında roman kişilerinde belirgin bir şekilde var olduğu anlaşılan güç istenci ve yaşama istemi dolayısıyla ortaya çıktığı üzerinde durularak 'ben'in kendini keşfetme yolculuğunda öteki bir 'ben'e duyduğu ihtiyaç ve onunla geliştirdiği ilişki felsefi ve psikanalitik bir yaklaşım eşliğinde karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmektedir.

The present study covers the concept of 'the other self' which is, as a result of a general acceptance, based on the mind and body dualism in human in addition to the curiosity about the duality that evolves out of similarities and contrasts and the need to clarify them. It is seen that the concept of 'the other self', which absorbs the beliefs of soul, myths, and stories in primitive societies, also finds its literary expression in the 'I', who is questioned and tried to be discovered, during the changing and developing historical process, within the social structure. The 'other self', which became a distinct motif in the works composed with Romanticism in the West, has been presented in various ways with the favorable environment provided by the fantastic genre. In this context, the most remarkable works in the 19th and 20th centuries, which include the motif of the 'other self' in their construction in Western and Turkish literatures, were exempli-fied. The main focus of this work is the analysis of the 'other self' in a Turkish novel, Puslu Kıtalar Atlası (The Atlas of Misty Continents) of Ihsan Oktay Anar and a Basque novel, Otto Pette of Anjel Lertxundi. Emphasizing that the emergence of 'the other selves' in the mentioned works are due to the desire for power and the will to live, the need and the relationship with an 'other self' which is developed by the“self”within its journey of self-discovery will be examined with comparative approach with the help of philosophical and psycho-analytical theories.
