Özet
Bu çalışmada, aynı okulda bulunan 12. sınıf dil öğrencilerinin daha önce deneyimlemediği İngiliz İngilizcesindeki ikili seslilerin (Dipthongs) işitsel algısı incelenecektir. Beş şıklı çoktan seçmeli ön test ile tüm ikili seslilerin genel ve her biri için ayrı hazır bulunma düzeyleri belirlenecek olup, ardından, Prof. Dr. Mehmet DEMİREZEN'İN geliştirmiş olduğu 'Audio-Articulation Method' isimli eğitim metodu örnek alınarak içeriği hazırlanmış bir eğitim uygulanacaktır. Her bir ses için ikişer saatten oluşan toplamda 16 saatlik bu eğitimin sonunda katılımcıların ikili seslere ilişkin genel algıları ve yine her bir ses için ayrı algı düzeyleri ve gelişimleri takip edilecektir. Süreçte katılımcıların işitsel algılamada en çok sorun yaşadığı ikili sesliler tespit edilecektir. Sürecin sonunda, öğrencilerin ön test ve son test değerlendirmeleri yapılarak ikili seslilerin (Dipthongs) algılarındaki gelişim düzeyleri incelenecektir.

The aim of this research is to analyze the practical performance of Ministry of National Education (M.O.N.E.) twelfth grade students in auditory recognition of British diphthongs through pre-test, training with the audio-articulation method (AAM) was originally designed by Demirezen and post-test applications. As a pre-test, the vocabulary items, compromising all diphthongs, will be given to 30 twelfth grade students in a five-scale multiple choice test. All the words in the test will be recorded by an online application whose name is“From Text to Speech”and participants will listen to them first and then will be asked to choose the correct option. What follows will be sixteen hours teaching on diphthongs in two weeks with a variety of different productive listening activities. Just after teaching, the same vocabulary in the pre-test will be asked to students as a post-test. The results of the two tests, as well as the teaching activities in between, will be evaluated to find out the overall performance of the participants in terms of auditory recognition of the British and diphthongs and further discussions will be made to point out the significance of pronunciation education.
