Özet
Bu çalışma Ramsey Campbell'ın The Last Voice They Hear, Silent Children ve The Face That Must Die adlı romanlarında çocuk karakterlerin aile ve toplumla ilişkilerini gotik, korku, terör, tekinsiz bağlamında incelemektedir. Çalışma, Giriş ve Sonuç kısımları dışında dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın Gotik Edebiyat ve Çocuk adını taşıyan birinci bölümü gotik edebiyatın tema, karakter ve kurgu bağlamında tarihsel süreç içinde geçirdiği değişimi, çocuk karakterin alandaki rolünü, önemini ve somut, gerçek bir tehlike ya da soyut, hayali bir tehdit karşısında ortaya çıkan korku ve terör ve esasen tanıdık ancak yabancı olandan kaynaklanan tekinsiz kavramlarını alanlarının önde gelen düşünürlerinin kuramları çerçevesinde ele almaktadır. Ramsey Campbell'ın Edebi Kariyeri ve Romanları başlıklı ikinci bölüm, yazarın edebi kariyeri ve bu tez çalışmasında incelenen romanları ile ilgilidir. Campbell'ın Romanlarında Gotik İzdüşümler adlı üçüncü bölüm, çocuğun aile ve toplumdaki yerini gotik, tekinsiz, korku ve terör bağlamında incelemektedir. Campbell'ın Romanlarında Gotik Çocuk İmgesi adlı dördüncü bölüm, akli dengesi bozuk, katil karakterlerin gotikle ilişkilendirilen çocukluk deneyimlerini ve bu deneyimlerin etkilerini ve sonuçlarını aile ve toplum bağlamında irdelemektedir. Son bölüm, yozlaşmış aile yapılarının olumsuz sosyoekonomik şartlar ve çevre gibi başka etkenlerle birleştiğinde çocukların üzerinde yarattığı kalıcı etkileri ve bu etkilerin sonuçlarını değerlendirmektedir.

This study examines the relationships of child characters with family and society in Ramsey Campbell's novels The Last Voice They Hear, Silent Children and The Face That Must Die in the context of gothic, horror, terror and uncanny. The study consists of four main parts except the Introduction and Conclusion parts. The first part of the study, Gothic Literature and Child, discusses the change that gothic literature has undergone in the historical process in the context of theme, character and setting, and the role and importance of the child characters in the field, and features of gothic literature including the concepts of horror and terror that arise in the face of a concrete, real danger or an abstract, imaginary threat, and the uncanny that originates from the familiar but alien within the framework of the theories of the leading thinkers of their field. The second part, Ramsey Campbell's Literary Career and His Novels, deals with Ramsey Campbell and his novels in question. The third part, Gothic Projections in Campbell's Novels, examines the child in family and society in the context of gothic, uncanny, horror and terror. The fourth part, Gothic Child Image in Campbell's Novels, deals with mentally ill, murderer characters' childhood experiences associated with gothic and the effects and consequences of these experiences in the context of family and society. The conclusion part presents an assessment of the corrupt family structures' adverse effects on children and their likely consequences for them, when combined with other factors such as negative socioeconomic conditions and the environment.
